Going with Christmas Pancakes from Hardywood tonight. I was lucky enough to grab one of these the day the store near me got them in. It is basically their gingerbread stout with maple syrup and honey. It does not taste like pancakes but you definitely can pick up the maple syrup and honey. Recommended if you can find them.

Another great glass. I saw a cute set at Homegoods earlier. Elf themed, but one had a crack in it.

I'll be drinking to excess today! 😂 Christmas day has become my Belgium beer day. 1 1/2 year old Westvlettern 12 will be the highlight of tomorrow. Among of a few others. 2020 sucks as we all cant be with many family or friends.

Yesterday was the first time since 1998 that our group didn’t meet up at McSorleys for our annual holiday gathering. This ******** year really hits home now. There were years that I couldn’t make it for various reasons but at least I knew the other guys were there to keep the tradition going. I truly miss gathering at our corner table throwing down pints of light or dark while eating cheese, crackers and the hottest mustard in New York.

😞

Of course the McSorleys on E 7th St. ( Ale Pl) in the East Village. The give away is "

Although a touristy /frat boy type bar, the very limited drink and beer , and food menu, is the give away. Years ago we would walk over a few blocks to 'Little Peters bar" after McSorleys, for one of the wildest, outrageous strip bar shows one could imagine, lol. Then walk over to Hung Fat on Mott St for a 2 am meal before the hazy drive back to New Brunswick.

When I used to go to Philadelphia , the now closed Eulogy was my favorite. Loved the dark , dank dive bar atmosphere but it had a fab beer and mussels menu, and cooked to perfection. Very knowledgeable bartenders. i don't like Monks quite as much, too crowded. but a good selection of beers and mussels however. I'm not sure NYC has a Eulogy or Monks Belgium beer bar equivalent.

Icarus Fluffist. A milk stout flavored with graham cracker and marshmallow. Very good.

As I type this, I'm trying out the following Stout for the first time. Not bad. A hint of peppers, but not strong. Definitely more of a coffee taste. 9% though, so I'm just about to . . . Zzzzzzzzz.....

Last week, I gave this a try and thought it was very good. I'm into the milkshake IPAs, and even though this is not one of them, I liked it as a Winter option in a way I like the milkshake IPAs as a summer option.

And just for $hits & Giggles, I dropped a shot of this into a Guinness a few days back to see what would happen. Truth be told, not too bad. Either are great, by themselves, so I figured let's put one in the other. I was going to go for two, and then that whole Zzzzzzzzzzz . . . thing started to take over, again.

Happy Imbibing, Everyone!

Not necessarily equivalent but BXL is similar. Also, there's a Belgian beer bar in the Village I can't recall the name of at the moment.
