Assume that was a part of the AWS/Entergy transaction. Not sure how Delbert was responsible. Many actors in that transaction.
I believe the Secretary of State has some roll in the Eminent Domain process in Mississippi, so perhaps this rube thinks Delbert is still SOS.

Yeah that truck has been riding around the metro like that for 10+ years. Very often out by Lake Caroline, as someone else mentioned.

Nah. Goes back to Delbert’s days as SOS. Guy had 16th Section Lease and evidently some policies Delbert changed while he was SOS caused the lease value to go way up and guy couldn’t or didn’t want to pay.

I did laugh at that. N Bama folks are furious because of the energy costs they are absorbing with A I. New plant rolls out in Vicksburg with jobs and energy savings, then AWS is announced months later. It’s like that was planned or something.

I lost some land a few years back to Eminent Domain for a highway project. The state gave me about three times what it was worth. Guy down the road thought he was going to cash in. He was holding out for a million dollars for a 1960’s ranch that might have been worth $150 - $200k tops. They unloaded a dozer and excavator in his yard one Friday and told him they were tearing the house down at 8 am Monday whether he was moved or not. He spent the weekend moving.

That's the mission of 16th section land, to generate as much income as possible for school systems for the use of the land by leasee, not for his family to have a cheap lease. As for it being "his families land", 16th section land existed even before MS statehood in 1817, (established by Continental Congress way back in late 1700s) but the current laws for our states land were set up in the MS constitution of 1890. So, this was never "his families" land

This is correct. Dude thought he owned it. He didn't. Personally, I think it is wise to stay away from 16th section property unless you are leasing it for crop land. Any improvement you do to it will just come back to bite you.
