OT: Why do people put YETI cooler stickers on their vehicles.

Same reason I see a lot of people wearing the Yeti hats lately too, because they probably can't afford the coolers.

They want people to know they are stupid enough to spend $500 on a 17'ing cooler. It's the working mans equivalent of The North Face ********

It's an awesome cooler but I got mine for "free" from my seed company. It keeps drinks cold for days, in the back of my truck, in the summer.

Rabid, not just spending several hundred on one, but spending several hundred and leaving it in back of truck untethered. Then putting sticker on glass might as well say " free cooler".

I disagree, but here is where I totally agree. Why in the 17 do people buy the 20qt Yeti's? I mean $230 to hold a 10 beers and half bag of ice? Do you plan on drinking 2 beers per day over the course of 5 days? Unless you are shipping a heart, I don't get it.

Funny you would ask that. We had the exact same discussion over the weekend at DNF. I couldn't answer that question then and I still don't know. Also, we were not drinking beverages from a Yeti. We could fill up our outfield trailer with Colemans for the price of one big Yeti. However, Si & Phil Robertson say they are the bomb, Jack!

Go to YouTube and check out the video where they compare the ice holding capacity of certain coolers. They tested a yeti, grizzly, and an engler (all high end), a Coleman extreme marine, and an igloo marine. Not a dime's worth of difference between the yeti that costs $350, and the Coleman that costs $80 as far as ice retention goes. All were put under the exact same conditions and the only one that didnt have ice in it after 8 days was the igloo, all had mostly water.

I guess I just don't see the need to keep cold drinks in the back of my truck for a long period of time. When I drink I typically finish most of my beers in one night/weekend and I'm never driving.

I was in stop & go traffic last week w/ a clunker toyota truck in front of me. It had the Yetti sticker on the back windshield (looked like it was holding the truck together) and there in the bed was an old beat up igloo........

I know of one person that has a valid use for something that you can put ice in and chill drinks for days. He is a supervisor for a private company that does road work.

I think the theme here is any decal of any brand anything on your car is lame

even if Calvin is pissing on it. And yes, I'm including huge chevy bow tie stickers on chevys. It's not like you needed to tell me it was a Chevy.

Which reminds me, is No Fear still around?

I can't believe the Robertson clan hasn't upgraded to Costa's yet. I wonder how much money Under Armor gives them to exclusively pimp their **** every episode?

Speaking of the Robertson clan I noticed Wal-Mart had the Duck Dynasty t-shirt collection displayed front and center. The Phil shirt said Happy Happy Happy. I didn't read the others.

Back when the the Robertsons were known ONLY for their duck calls and hunting videos (20+ years ago) Phil was my hunting celebrity hero. At that time they were tried and true Browning guys. Browning shotgun ads all over every waterfowl hunting magazine you would see along with an occasional tv ad. Then, strangely enough, several years ago Benelli all of a sudden became the finest waterfowling piece you could take to the blind, according to Phil, Si, Willie, Jase and Jep. Advertisements, tv commercials, you name it. You're right rabiddawg, I am surprised Costa, Wiley X or someone like that has not approached Phil with a glasses offer yet. Best Robertson t-shirt I saw was several years ago at the Bassmasters Classic in Shreveport. Back of it was a quote from Phil: "There are championship duck callers and championship duck killers. I'm a duck killer"

I actually own one of those

but it's on my laptop not my car. Too many people around me at work exercise far too much.

I had never heard of yeti until i went home to mississippi 2 weeks ago. I was at academy sports and saw one for sell for 500. Later that night, i was drinking with a buddy and he had one. I asked him what ******* idiot spends that much money on a cooler? He said they keep ice cold for weeks so your beer will stay cold for weeks.

my response is, who fills up a cooler planning to drink on that beer for weeks? I dont get it. Of course he had the sticker on his truck too.

just seems like one of those stupid mississippi frat boy type things to me.

I

can't figure out why average joe blow needs to keep drinks cool over a 4-5 day period. I mean are they going through the Sahara?

Only reasons I would need one is a multi-day off shore fishing trip or the same for a hunting trip. It is so rare that I do it though. Just not worth it.

To answer the question: it is on their trucks to look cool and proclaim a lifestyle.

Personally, I'd rather use the money to get a new Double Bull blind and Coleman cooler.

I've been riding around Madison with a pineapple sticker on my truck for a few years...

For some reason I can't get the dang thing to work.

Ah.. the Yeti Sticker.

Almost as bad as the numerous Salt Life stickers I see in the Jxn metro.
