Yes, it's okay to hit someone (within reason) that has crossed a line.

On the other hand, it is not okay to severely injure (e.g., stab someone, hit someone in the head with an iron skillet, etc.) or kill (e.g., shoot someone with a 9, etc.) someone who has crossed a line.

Let's not act like Will tried to kill Chris Rock. Rather, Will just *****-slapped him.
