I read Ruth was 6' 2" but he doesn't look it there.
Its easy to take the discoloration out of old pics

He's leaning over and age and illness probably made him a little shorter as well.
When did he become #8?If you could see the number on Mr. Berra’s uniform top, it would be #35
Thanks! Are you saying that your father is wearing a World Series ring in that picture? (I can't see the picture well enough.) Your father's first World Series was 1947, so if he's wearing a World Series ring, this picture must be from after the Series. Ruth's last appearance at Yankee Stadium was in June, 1948 -- could this picture be from then?1948
Cliff Mapes wore #7 at the time. When Mapes was traded #7 became available for Mantle. When did he become #8?
Fun fact: Mickey Mantle was originally #6 --so that he would be in a line with Ruth (#3), Gehrig (#4) and DiMaggio (#5). But he was sent down to the minors in mid-season and when he returned he was #7.
Southern Italy and Northern Africa as wellSo three years earlier, the man on the right was on the beaches at Normandy...
Friend said the same about Ken Daneyko…decent size to begin with but huge hands. If you could see the number on Mr. Berra’s uniform top, it would be #35.
Take a look at his hands, the world series ring he wore on his pinky finger fit on my thumb.
Yogi may have been only 5’7”-5’8” but when he stepped out of that big black car in 1968 at Woodman Field Montclair he looked about 10 ‘ tall to me and my teammates. Think about this… one of the games GREATEST players and catchers who it seems NEVER missed time for “pulling a hammy.” Tough , gritty and a leader of perhaps the best of all times. You and your brothers have a reason to be proud of his 5’7-5’ 8” stature Zap.His heart and desire was what set those old guys apart from the overpriced players of today. If you could see the number on Mr. Berra’s uniform top, it would be #35.

I have a picture of this matted and framed and signed by Yogi that I won from that sports show on WCTC The Sports Buzz many years ago with Dave Cooperman and Lori Rubinson from a memorabilia store called Field of Dreams.found this

I always said he reminds me of my grandfather who had the biggest / thickest hands I have seen. Was a “barrel boxer” where they put two barrels side by side in the ring and they slugged it out! No running! If you could see the number on Mr. Berra’s uniform top, it would be #35.
