With all the grief Catholic Schools get for doing what they been doing for years, two Charter Schools are getting props for doing the same thing as the one in Paterson wins the N1G1 championship and the one in Asbury Park won Central G1. A third, KIPP Norcross in Camden last their chance in South G1.

Always believed private **** play private, public play public, etc
These aren’t true public’s as they take from wherever like a private

1. Academies take from wherever.
2. Until it closed, Paterson Catholic did what this charter apparently does.

Charter schools by definition are public. Magnet schools are public. Sending districts are public.

Basically all of Newark is charter or choice. Some of their football teams dominate and have kids from all over the city.

It's all public schooling.

I agree. And it's not fair.
The schools that can recruit play the schools that can recruit. And those that can't recruit play those that can't.

Can they read?

Is it actually a charter school or a fake school?

Findley Prep in Nevada was a small school too. 12 kids in the school who all play basketball. There is no actual school. It is basically an AAU team with 12 kids living in one house and playing hoops.

College Achieve in Asbury Park probably deserves an investigation from the DOE. None of the players live in Asbury or Neptune. It’s one thing to be a private that recruits. Charters only get approval by the state to provide an alternative setting in usually struggling school districts. They aren’t for athletic factories. It’s pretty easy to see the school is not serving the mission and with public money.

These schools are pretty much fraud public charter schools that are stealing money from the state and local taxpayers. The players do not live in the districts they were approved to pull from but the money is still coming out. Private schools can do a lot of what they want. There are requirements and annual approvals for charter schools. I’d expect some changes to be made or look for the “schools” to get shut down by the state.

There’s one in Jersey City that’s going by their third name.

And there’s that famous story where the principal of a Camden Charter who gave her boyfriend a $90K+ salary to be the school chef.

Isn't the coach of this team the former Roselle Catholic coach (Boff)? I think when they lost earlier, they were still waiting for kids to become eligible. I wouldn't expect them to play a schedule comprised of mostly Group 1 schools. They should play in the non public sector of the tournament.

St. Rose in Belmar is lead by two kids (Hodge brothers) who came over from Belgium to play for Brian Lynch who played professional ball in Belgium with the father of these two kids. These high school aged kids change schools frequently and the same is now happening at the college level.

While this has been occurring, it is interesting that the top candidates for MVP in the NBA are all foreign born and developed players. But the US kids just keep playing a tremendous number of HS and AAU games rather than working on their fundamentals.

it's annoying that Thomas Aquinas plucks kids from surrounding areas then destroys them in GMCs every year with those kids. pussies.

If they are clearly a factory for athletics, then they should be in with the non publics. Or do like the specialized academies do and have them play for their home school. That’s what they do in Monmouth County.

I don’t think public schools get any smaller than Henry Hudson regional in Highlands. If they would’ve won their semifinal game, they would’ve faced college achieve charter in the finals. They would’ve gotten destroyed and put a real sour ending on a very positive season.

1) Calling kids “pussies…” CLASSY.
2) Charter schools are starting to do the same thing but no problem.

I know a guy whose daughter went to GSB for cple years, before transferring, starter level player.
He told them could afford only $10k for the year , which they were fine with. Said he made some installments didn't even pay full amount.

It’s important to again point out that private schools are not publicly funded. They have little to no rules to follow as long as the school stays in business. Charter schools are not private schools. They are taxpayer funded public schools.

Public’s play public’s
Privates / parochial play same

Same with public’s
Group 4 play group 4s (tweak for local matchups)

Keep local rivalries & conferences

Why Manalapan, Marlboro, Freehold Twp, Howell and colts neck aren’t in the same division is mind boggling

Camden HS has been bringing in out of state kids to play basketball for a long time
