There’s a mansion on that perch above montclair Kim with sweeping city views that was owned by “Indian” Bill Geyer. He’s like the areas Forrest Gump — his life is almost too awesome to even fully capture:
- All state football player (running back) at Bloomfield Highschool in 1937 (his team went undefeated and didn’t give up a point all year)
- All American at Colgate from 1937-1941 as running back in the wishbone and kick returner
- Enlisted in the Air Force after Pearl Harbor WW2 and was a tail gunner from 1943-1945
- pre and post the military was on the Chicago bears as a running back and won the NFL championship in 1943, and played till 47
- Took an executive position at Scientific Glass and Apparatus post the NFL
- Became CEO and traveled the world
- Somewhere in there married his highschool sweetheart from Bloomfield who also happened to be a Saturday evening post cover girl
- Loved big game hunting; had and piloted his own airplane
- Was named to the Colgate football hall of fame and college footballs all century team
Incredible life the guy lived. It’s inspiring stuff
