Screw offense - we've got to be the worst defense in the SEC (when you look at only SEC games). We couldn't stop a highschool team the last couple of weeks.

Yea the defense is bad especially down low and against the three. Although I thought Bear Wilson helped a lot last night. He's a good rebounder, defender with very long arms and he constantly fights for position. Tough player. We've found another Brandon Vincent with him.

I think ndoye and Daniels will help our defense and esp our rebounding. Borchert is a terrible defender and ware has no lift. Hopefully ware continues to slim down this offseason

Joe Dean made a comment that Sword is the fastest man in the SEC. I think

he is right.

This is really a big problem. Borchert can't handle anyone one on one which

causes our guards to collapse which exposes us to threes. We are very weak defensively down low.

And that's really disturbing to me. I can understand our offensive limitations. But defensively, we're just terrible. And getting worse as the season goes on. There's no excuse for that.

We still have no depth. I think the team is running out of gas and add losses on top of that - just in a terrible mindset.

If he had a shooter to break up zone defense, sword would be unbelievable.

And another post presence besides Ware.

Should have both next season. I really think we'll see, much to the dismay of the Ray bashers, a tremendously improved team right away next year just from these issues being resolved. If not, then the heat will truly be turned up on Ray, and rightfully so.

Our bigs are bad at D; terrible at help D. There's just no other way around it. A guard should never be able to drive baseline past our bigs. It's the difference between having your baseline foot two feet from the line and having it ON THE LINE. That stuff was driving Bobby Knight nuts when they called our game against UF and rightfully so.

When you don't close that gap on the baseline, everything breaks down. You either give up an easy layup, or someone else has to leave their man downlow and it turns into an easy dish-and-dunk. All of that because someone doesn't get in the right position on D.

If we're worn out, that's on the coach. There is no reason you shouldn't be able to get through a college basketball season with a seven man rotation. Many teams have done it. These guys are 18-22 years old and they play two games a week.

This team just does nothing well. They don't defend, they don't rebound, and they are anemic offensively.

We don't have a single player on our team who averages even 30 minutes per game. They are NOT out of gas. I agree with the mindset though. Just terrible. And again, no excuse for that.

Borchert is the worst defender I have ever seen in the SEC. Bar none. There may have been a player as bad defensively, but not worse.

Not to keep beating a dead horse, but these are the kind of posts that we couldn't even discuss during Stans' tenure, which is why it was so frustrating to get on message boards and why there was such a divide in the fanbase.

You couldn't get on here and say "Ravern not being able to guard anyone 1-on-1 on the perimeter affects our entire defense" or "we don't have anyone that can penetrate or create their own shot which limits us on offense." We couldn't even discuss our personnel without being attacked and EVERYTHING going back to Stans sucks and the reason Ravern can't guard anyone is because he hasn't been "developed." If we happened to have a personnel deficiency it was overlooked and we found a reason to spin it to say it was bad coaching.

I'm just relieved we can discuss basketball now without it turning into "Borchert can't guard anyone because Stans sucks!"

If you have noticed in the two games Wilson has played extended minutes we make a run . He brings toughness, rebounding and it looks like His teammates play better when he is in the game. Notice he doesn't loaf getting back and I love that he is always in position witha block-out when the shot goes up.

would you say that is a lack of Coaching? Cutting of the baseline is in Coaching 101

Thank you for that observation. Most teams play a 8 man rotation. Some play 7. The lack of players is a ******** excuse. Richard Williams very seldom played over 8 players. The problem is we are awful fundamentally on offense and defense.
