why do we have to copy everyone doing the cool trendy stuff? And when we do, we are the last to do it. Pretty lame.

Exactly golfer. First, the black and maroon looked terrible together. Second, we are about a year behind on this "cool" trend. When I saw them, I thought no way Jack will see the numbers tonight.

I'm kidding I love him.

Seems like a lot of guys on here have a preoccupation about our uniforms...It just don't matter that much.

YOU DON'T SEE OTHER SCHOOLS ADDING COLORS THEY HAVEN'T HAD FOR YEARS! If I wanted to see all black swac looking jerseys, I'd go support USM. Please stop it. It's tough enough to get stomped without not wearing school colors.

and I`ll guaratee you not one in one thousand can tell you why we did it other than somebody else did it. That just ain`t the way to go IMO. God I hope other teams don`t start wearing dresses next year.

It's about the players, not the colors. Players get excited about little changes like that. If it works, great. If it doesn't, don't do it again.

Burn the jerseys, seal the ashes in a lead container, bury the container deep underground and nuke the fark out of it.

Heard his call of one of our long run backs and Jack gave exactly 3 updates of where the ball was on the field: 1) fielded at the 2 yard line, 2) crosses midfield, 3) down at the whatever it was.

He does a terrible job of describing the action, or letting you have a visual image of what's happening on the field. As much as I FREAKIN CAN'T STAND David Yellum Kellum over-excited (good for Ole Miss plays) or understated (bad for Ole Miss plays) delivery, at least he does a good job of letting you know what's happening on the field.

I saddly noticed a big change even from last year. It`s heart breaking to me but he really is getting close to the end of his carrer if he`s not there already.

but to be honest this had zero to do with them. This was all about what the our college kids on the field want and those that we want to be on the field in the future want. We will continue to find ways to please the fans, but this time it really isn't about them."

Couldn't agree more...and for the record I loved the black jerseys. Not so much because of the black jerseys themselves, but the idea that we are going to be out there trying new things and pushing the envelope. We've been stale and bland for years and we've turned the page.

To the Ninja and his crew...keep up the good work.

If we were going to use them, it should have been against Florida. I'm quite certain one of the decks would have collapsed when they ran on the field.

For evidence of what inappropriate, hideously hideous black jerseys look like, see Tennessee vs. South Carolina. Holy spiccoli those looked disgusting. And when you're Tennessee, how far has your program sunk when you pull out black jerseys for the freaking Gamecocks?

We finally get an athletic director that wants to try new things and fire people up, and people find ways to ***** about it.

If Jack Cristil wants to call the game from a hospital bed with a TV and a cellphone, he should be allowed to. It would literally kill him to not be the voice of MSU football anymore.

When you get 50+ years of the best radioman in the SEC, you must willingly deal with however many of these years you need to. Jack is family to all of us.

Maroon uniforms or white uniforms are preferred with exceptions for sports where other colors are used (e.g. baseball, gray road uniforms). That being said, the black jerseys looked nice. I can see them as an alternate uniform used maybe once every year or three. I just wish we didn't follow what nearly every other university does in having black jersey tops.

our tradition is a tradition that typically involves lame **** and following what other schools are doing. Then every other year we try to start something new which then is discarded a few years down the road in favor of something " more new and hip".

Look for us to wear some type of camouflage on our shoulder pads next year.

No one in the decks would have been cheering if we would have worn black jerseys against Florida, just like no one cheered because we wore them when we played Bama. Our colors are maroon and white, and to wear something different is just stupid, borderline insulting in my opinion. The athletic director is doing great things, but he also makes mistakes, and this was a small mistake. Hopefully we learned our lesson and won't do it again because there were some of the worst looking jerseys I have ever seen. Some people will find a way to defend every dumbass thing we do, just because they want it done.

I never want to see black jerseys or white helmets again. I don't understand the purpose of wearing anything besides your school colors. Hell, if we're not gonna wear school colors, lets go balls to the wall or don't do it at all. Balls to the wall = a different color every game.

Wow, where was all this bitching and moaning when the baseball team broke out the black unis in the spring? It seems like I remember everyone loving when the baseball team did it, so why the change when football does it? I thought they looked surprisingly good last night, but like other said I don't like adding a color that is not one of the school colors. I didn't like that we wore black in baseball or football. Keep it to some combination maroon and white (and maybe gray) all the time.

You guys need to get over it. It's a 17ing jersey! I can't believe so many ppl are complaining. Where were you guys when we talked about them in the pre-game threads.? Seriously if you people email GB and complain you are just as bad as the old farts that complain about the new audio system being too loud or people standing during basketball games. Plus it's not like we are Penn state or Bama and had the exact same uniforms since 1900. Get over it, imbrace the change.

if you`re not then you`re the one with the problem. The black jerseys are a tired gimmick that look like **** matched with most school`s colors that don`t already have black as one of their colors. We absolutely looked like a bunch of damn fools getting our asses kicked in spite of our brilliant inspirational idea.

For all I care we can turn into the SEC's version of Oregon if the players and recruits like it. We are always going to have to do a little extra to generate excitement, and if that means we wear black on occasion or break out several different uniforms during the year then so be it. I understand the desire to stick with our traditional colors, but if Byrne and Mullen feel we need to be "progressive" in order to market the program then so be it. We don't have a lot of tradition, so I have no problem with us doing things a little differently.

At least we are actually willing to try new **** under Bryne.

what is wrong with letting the team have a little fun with it?
As long as we don't really make a change, what is it really going to hurt?
If it's a fad, fine, like wearing long hair, or bell bottoms, it just really does not matter.
For the record, I could not stand the Emory Bellard uniforms and loved Felker's, but those are just fad issues.
None of this really helps or hurts what happens on the field. If this is what the players and team wanted... It's part of their college experience.
I'm for it.... now I'm sure there is a bunch of **** that they could want that I would get upset over, but this is not one of them.

Yes, our colors are Maroon and white.

Think about the players for once and not yourselves. I am more worried about getting good recruits and keeping the players excited since maybe they deserve some respect for the hard work. A good number of the geniuses on here need to consume some mushrooms and chill out. BMTucker-Is the English grammar more pleasing to you?

It's something the players and fans can look forward to every year, Notre Dame (not even trying to compare us to them) wears the green jerseys once every year. It only helps us it will not hurt us, and for the people who didn't like it, you really need to get with the times and it's not gonna kill us to change it up a little bit
