The beauty of that is when the government shuts down, essential workers still work and get paid so it is not a complete shut down. It will show us how bare bones our government can be and still function without all the waste. Obviously, some necessary personnel and agencies will not be operational in the shut down, and those services will be needed but the shut down is one hell of an opportunity for Trump to expose and cut waste.
Can you think of a better way to end waste than to shut most of it down then and rebuild it slowly? If Trump plays this smartly, the crooked Congressmen will play right into his hands. Not to mention Musk is working for free so he will still be digging into ****.
My hope is Musk shows us all where every nickel is going and that will show the corruption and should run some rats out of DC.
I'm all for shutting down the government to do a line by line budget no reason they can't.
The no tax on overtime is a big for me and many dirty hands blue collar people. I work no less than 10 hrs OT a week and most weeks it's 20 or 30 hrs OT . My savings will be huuuuge this year . Awesome.
Just think my OT taxes won't be going to fund some trans in Iraq.....

Not a lie. It’s 100% accurate. A CR maintains all current funding commitments. DOGE cuts will not go into effect.

If the Senate Dems shutter most of the government by voting down the CR, they will empower President Donald Trump elon musk and russ vought to pare the federal government workforce to its genuinely essential size, most of which will be at DOD, CIA, NSA, Homeland Security, DOJ. The entitlement checks will still go out but everything else will stop. The employees won’t get paid. And I suspect this time those who are recalled to work eventually won’t get back pay.
The POTUS should also keep the lost cost, high value, high visibility stuff like the Washington Monument, Mt. Rushmore parking lot etc open and not punish the citizenry as President Obama did. But a long shutdown will reveal —in stark terms— what we must have and what can be cut. Don’t be surprised if more than half of the 2.1 million civilian federal employees never come back to work. Don’t be surprised if the Article II authority of the president comes into full play and appropriate and constitutional use.
In short, this is a potentially pivotal moment for a big and lasting breaking with an out-of-control federal bureaucracy. I hope President Trump takes full advantage of the unhinged politics of the left that have taken over the Democrats and uses their break with mainstream America to do a fundamental reset of constitutional government.
