Haven't heard much at all since Fedora just agreed to UNC's terms today. Rumor is that Sonny Dykes of La Tech is interested. Wish we could get your man Hudspeth at ULL. Johnson was in the mix in 2007 when Fedora was hired.
There's no way in hell Ellis Johnson takes pretty much the same salary he's getting now (700K+) to coach at Southern Miss. I'd say less than a 10% chance he goes if offered. With bonuses and stuff, he could make in the 1.1 million range, but I think he's comfortable where he's at. The only wild card could be him wanting more control, but I just don't see it. Dykes on the other hand, would jump at USM. It would more than double his pay at La Tech, and we all know that money is what drives the process these days. I bet they offer Hudspeth if Dan doesn't leave though, and I would hate that, even though it would be a great hire for them.
Ellis Johnson has definitely expressed his interest in the job. When all is said and done I expect Blake Anderson, the current OC to get the job, but that is nothing more than a guess on my part.
