What agenda? I posted on the old board, and this one because I love talking wrestling. This topic just gets to me a bit. For several reasons. While it isn't Spencer or Austin's job to make sure the lightweights are jumping levels, I thought it would be a by product, and was looking forward to seeing it. There are a few individual Hawkeyes I really wanted to see succeed. Drake is one of them. Maybe I was expecting too much. 2024 had Drake in the finals of the NCAA tournament, and Spencer taking Olympic silver. I thought that was a recipe for success. Maybe you're right on moving the goalpost. I was just expecting more. You mentioned Drake coasting. I don't think he looks like he's coasting, I think he looks lost. From a 5th year senior, thats alarming.

As far as hate flowing thru me, what are you even talking about?!?!?! Dude, pump the brakes a bit. You're some rando on a message board. You're not that important lol. Its fun to banter. That is all. No hate here. I appreciate your passion, and enjoy the conversation.

You came at me hard with insults/name calling. I would think most people would draw a conclusion towards some level of "hate". Still, this is admittedly fun for me. I think your take, in this specific debate, is about as laughable as it gets. But, the great thing about this country is you are 100% entitled to that take and have every right to even fully believe it.

A history of coasting in the regular season?!? He was 15-1 and ranked #1 going into B1Gs last year. That's coasting?!? The previous season he was 19-3 heading into the B1Gs, so this year, he already has as many regular season losses (4) as the previous two seasons combined, and he has Blaze, Van Dee, Davino, and Jax still coming up, so he could have as many as 7 or 8 regular season losses heading into B1Gs this year. That looks like big time regression to me, not typical "coasting".

It was about the misnomer regarding performance enhancing drugs HAVING TO create bodybuilder physiques to even begin to believe someone MAY be using them. If you pay attention, I mess with PSU FANS hard, but not the program itself. "Those" is an all inclusive term. Why so defensive? Do you have a real reason to be?

I agree with you that Drake takes it up a notch and tends to wrestle his best come tournament time. Drake has been a great Hawkeye, good person, teammate, and his results have spoke for themself. He’s definitely at the most loaded weight in college wrestling, and one of the toughest weight classes that I can remember in a long time.

With that being said what concerns me is he’s taking losses to guys that he hasn’t in the past. All we heard all off season is that he’s taken it to an even higher level than where he was last year as a wrestler. Does how he is wrestling now fall all on Drake? I don’t have the perfect answer for that. All I will say is if our staff believed that he had cranked up a notch or two and now he’s losing to guys he hasn’t in the past, that seems like somewhat of a whiff on the coaches part.

lastly I’ll say that I hope Drake figures it out and notches some good wins the rest of the year and has a strong finish to his career.

Well guys that have had struggles with regular seasons and won titles that come to mind all had something in common. Clark, QW or say Jaggers- All were dominant on top and won scrambles at a high percentage than Ayala. I get having an off match here and there like say Mark Perry but Perry had a complete arsenal when he wanted to show up in March.

I dont know Ayala has that. Great on feet, Great at getting out from under but his defense on his feet seems capable of brain farts and he seems really vulnerable to some of the new 133 young bloods in terms of scrambling or what we would call an X factor. This kids are really good and advanced.

I hope he win it all but I dont see him getting out of the quarters on Friday morning because he has painted himself in a corner with seeding at this point. Do we agree would likely need to win the BIGS to even be top 4 seed in NCAA's? I am not sure even a BIG runner up will catapult his seeding that much. For him IMO winning the BIG versus a runner up will be a huge difference in seeding. Unfairly or not. BIG runners ups will get leap frogged by other non con top guys. Winner wont.

Id obviously love drake running the table so far but heres a bit of upside i see. He obviously rises in march. This pulls him off radar a bit which hopefully reduces pressure and it all locks in in march as underdog with nothing to lose! Prove sceptics wrong attitude. Free and flowing! I would never count out a 2 time finalist. The been there done that at NCAAs is a big advantage and hes gotten to Saturday night twice. Thats hard.

That's more than fair and that's where all of the so called anti Brands are. It would be extreme to fire him in the tunnel after tomorrow nights embarrassment- and it will be. If we have more stalls calls than takedowns it is what it is. I refuse to grant a free pass just say well PSU does that to everyone. This is Iowa, even if we dont win and regardless of the score as that can be misleading in swing matches- Iowa should at least be able to stand up look them in the eye and punch back even if the score isnt close. Eyeballs wont lie.

I think everyone agrees to see how March plays out and let Beth do her annual assessment of where the program stands. I would have a lot of question for Tom. IMO I am not sure he is coaching us next year regardless if a great candidate is in place or not.

I also refuse to be held hostage by the 27 class in which you seem to save Toms job for. There is zero guarantee that all pan out like the fab five and also zero guarantee Tom can develop them all to a high level. It will be interesting. Like I said how she handles his assistants contract renewals will speak to her confidence in Toms future.

I'm not counting him out. However, even peaking in March won't be enough in my opinion. He could wrestle his best, and still be on the bottom of the podium. Just sucks that his final year is a nightmare weight.

Perhaps Brands is the best Coach of all time but he is held back because he refuses to cheat. I would make a change on that alone.

As far as this year goes, he does kind of have a history of a bit of coasting during the regular season and then turning it on in March.

I was never a get rid of Brands fan but after reading this board I realized that maybe I was wrong. So I went to church for the answers. God told me he has a plan in place. We are gonna hire Bill Bassett as head coach to get his boys back. We will then hire Fred Bachman so his boys stay on the right track of commitment. To keep the program in place for years to come Willie will be hired as recruiting coordinator. Laura Vandeberg and Kennedy Blades will handle the social media to keep fans interested. Old man Ferrari comes on as strength and conditioning coach and Mineo is hired to break all the news to the media. God is good!

You are doing a fine job, but much seems to be missing. Go back and do ALL the kids they brought in at 125. We can start there, now again, you are ONLY talking about p4p which does NOT tell the whole story. When I looked at what the GR* Krailure had brought in JUST at 125, it was UNBELIEVABLE!!! There was how many #1s at the weight, TOP kids at the weight, AA transfers at the weight...... went ON and ON!!!

He has ALSO recruited OVER AAs and/or TOP kids such as with ButterDean and the KerKIN!!!! NO other skool in the HISTORY that I have seen, has had that luxury EVER!!!! In other words, Krailure had a TOP Heavy( one of the tuffest weights to fill} then goes out and steals the KerKin!!! He also did it with ButterDean at 197(was 184 till he got to F*** st) (but you don,t want to add the PEDs to the conversation) How many of there wrestlers went up weights and won again?????

More then ALL other teams combined maybe!!!! Hell look at the KerKin, how is he doing internationally by the way???? Think we will see him in the OLYMPICS???? LOL, him and brooks, and salad kid and brown and macantoshApple, and BoKnowSheet, and RuthoffTheDrunkRedNose and Babblin
