Did Crawford ever make the league? Gillespie first team over achieved. Once paterson got hurt the only big on the team was perry Stevenson. Crawford and Bradley both grew up quite a bit that year also. But that's a different story. Year two could be no worse for basketball team and Clyde refusing to kiss the ground the boosters walked on was his personal/professional undoing!
The thread here a couple weeks ago showed what upper class man talent that came is was really laking. We have filled some temporary gaps to make us somewhat competive from the Jr college ranks, but staff has made some players nice money. And will continue. I think Forrest (was a wr and has developed into a pretty good lb from this staff and stamps can maybe find the right system to play on the league. The freshman class has a couple NFL players but they are just that, freshman. We have to find diamond in the rough and the previous staff was mining in thin air.
Kentucky is getting the third at best rate players from big football states. So for us to make a rapid accend up the ladder we need for ky to produce 30-45 sec players a year. Or build a program with consitency. That will take 4-5 years of 7 and 8 win football, before you can make a year in, year out 10 win program. Each year you win and get better the next class should also improve. But freshman and sophomores are not going to compete
In the sec. We are getting better talent for us, but still getting out talented by other sec teams. But our fans expect our less talented underclass man to out perform more bigger, faster, and older experienced players in our conference.
