Out of curiosity, how many of you prefer college football over men's basketball?

Football. NCAA or PRO. Whatever is on that is relevant (UK is the exception to relevance). Season tickets since Jerry Claiborn.

BB when the tournaments are on. We go to SEC tournaments (especially NOLA).

As a sport, I like football better than basketball. If it weren't for UK being so good at basketball, I don't think I would have become such a huge basketball fan. I was born in Kentucky, but spent my childhood in Florida, so I grew up playing and loving football. When I moved back to Kentucky, I couldn't understand what all the fuss over basketball was about. Over time it grew on me and I became a UK basketball addict. Having said all of that, I long for the day when UK football is competitive in the SEC.

If it weren't for Cal and his teams we would be in bad moods year round instead of just October and November...

Football by a mile. Almost all other UK fans would eventually come around to this way of thinking (just like every other state in the union not named Indiana, Kansas, and North Carolina) if ever they were given reason to emotionally invest in UK football.

I love UK anything!!

I really enjoy the atmosphere of UK Football and would love to live to see the day we actually win big. UK Basketball is great and I love going to the SEC and NCAA Tournament games, however football is America's sport.

UK has the potential to be great at both, because of our fans. If the administration would put the effort into finding the right coach, we could become like Ohio St., Mich. St. or Florida and be a major player in both sports.

I know your school is basketball crazy. Just wondering how many of you prefer college football over the round ball.

As far as the Vols go, I've never met or heard anyone say they prefer men's basketball over our football program. We're about as football crazy as you'll find.

I don't really have to pick. When it is football season I am a diehard UK football fan. When it is basketball season I am a diehard UK basketball fan. When it is baseball season I am a diehard UK baseball fan. So, simply put, I'm a Kentucky fan. Don't have to pick which one I like best or better. I love them all and want them all to succeed.

Love COLLEGE football. Love UK basketball. Nothing better than a Saturday in the South with a college football game on the schedule. To me a better experience than a Saturday (or other day) basketball game. Football's like a day long event. I can sit and watch a Big 12 football game, etc. but come winter I'm not as interested in watching some other conference play basketball. But I do love UK basketball and am interested in college b'ball season-long.

Football easily, basketball is joke until march, even then it fails to compare to football( NFL playoffs, CFB championship) outside of Kentucky, college basketball is a afterthought, drive twenty min outside the borders of kentucky it is afterthought. Kentucky is actually made fun of in other states because of the basketball school tag.
Kentucky basketball being made fun of is crazy, you think our football isn't made fun of. lots of jealousy there.

I cannot watch random college basketball games. If it doesn't play UK I don't see it play. Football is totally different. I'm prone to watching random college football games very often - all levels.

As far as the Vols go, I've never met or heard anyone say they prefer men's basketball over our football program. We're about as football crazy as you'll find.

Watch football everyday of the week before any basketball.

As a whole I like watching football more than basketball, college or pro. I think the new playoff system has really helped build a lot of energy behind college football though I've always liked it. Like all of us I'd love to see UK become relevant at least to some degree. In all the years I've lived here I've usually been to 1-2 CU games a year, and a CSU one as well. And I'm not even a CU fan, just a fan of the sport. And it's a major program who's stadium is like 2 miles from my house so it's easy. I can't really say I prefer football though as I do love basketball, particularly college basketball. I watch a lot of it as well, and of course we all know it's great to be a fan of a program which has pretty much been at the elite level the entire 50 years I've followed it to one degree or other.

I'm one , but don't slight bb at all unlike the bb only folks and there are PLENTY of them that despise fb...Hell we even have one of our radio "personalities" make the claim that CWS could not be renovated because he said he had been told that in 10 years it was going to fall down and was going to have to be rebuilt because he was afraid it was going to take away from getting a new basketball arena built.... That is pitiful

I would say bb for me. It doesn't matter who is playing I can watch them and get interested. In football I'll watch the cats and all the SEC games I can find, but that's about it. Well that and hoping whoever is playing Ohio State beats the snot out of them.

I love football more. I can watch football anytime no matter the teams that are playing, but the only time I watch college basketball is when UK is playing. I want to see UK win it every year in basketball, but I would give just about anything to see UK win a national championship in football.

college basketball by a mile, although college football is second. one of the big reasons is bball rosters are only 12-15 men vs 55-60(?) in football. easier for me to follow bball players more closely. too many coaches involved on a football team. also with fball recruiting, commitments mean squat, until they're signed on the dotted line.

Football games take 3.5-4 hours to watch but only have 18-20 minutes of real live action.

College basketball for sure.

I loved playing bball more but football is the best spectator sport in the world and I love going to college football games more than any other event. If UK were actually good for a few years in a row we could sell out 75000 seats easy every week.

Exactly my thoughts as well. Though I attend every home UK game, sometimes my favorite days are those when the Cats are on the road or on a bye, so I can enjoy CFB from noon to midnight.

There was a day I was like that about CBB as well, but that was quite a while ago. For a team that has a consistent degree of success like UK, the regular season today seems almost meaningless (like an extended spring training) with so much emphasis by fans and media put on March.

Come March I can watch any game in any conference tournament and of course the NCAA tournament and enjoy every bit of it...but its a long 3 months of nothing to get that point.

I guess if I wasn't a UK fan, I would be like the 90% of country and completely ignore the sport until the tournament starts.
I literally don't see how so many people can waste a large portion of their life like this. I assume you are exaggerating?

I love football, and, of course, college football in particular. But I'll never love it as much as basketball, to which I have an almost mystical/religious devotion. Nothing else comes close to these two for me as far as spectator sports go.

Football is unquestionably America's sport, and has been for decades now. I think a lot of that interest is fueled by the spectacle of it: it's a big game, played in huge stadiums, with colorful uniforms, old traditions, and with many trappings (e.g., tailgating) that aren't possible with basketball, it being an indoor game. It's a violent game, and I think (for better or for worse) this has a special and growing appeal to Americans. I'm guilty too; aside from basketball it's the only sport I'll pay to watch.

This is entirely subjective, particularly since I'm a native Kentuckian and grew up enjoying the fruits of UK's basketball dominance, but I am convinced that basketball is the superior sport. It requires each player on the court to possess all the requisite skills of the game, to a far greater extent than does football. Those skills- shooting, ball-handling, passing- require a very high degree of innate hand-eye coordination and years and years of practice to master. At any competitive level, all this happens at a blinding pace. Finally, the degree of all-around athleticism- speed, quickness, strength, stamina, coordination- required to reach the highest levels of the game is comprehensive, something that simply can't be said of all positions in football.

That said, I understand that this will always be a minority opinion with regard to the vast majority of American sports fans. Football is and will continue to be America's Game.

Unlike TN where you really don't a men's basketball program and most TN fans love their women's team I love both sports, football is my favorite. My luxury is that when basketball starts I can look forward to a probable national championship and you look forward to bottom feeding, hope this answers your question, let me know if you need any additional information. GO CATS!!!!

I like both, but my preference is now football. The one and done rule along with the main goal being to see how many players can be drafted in first round of the NBA draft has dampened my enthusiasm for basketball.

I suppose being a UK football fan is a challenge in its self , however I'm excited about the future of UK football and look forward to next years team.
You're quite daft.

No. They wouldn't.

UK is the greatest college basketball program of all time.
