Out of curiosity, how many of you prefer college football over men's basketball?

Football for me...

...but I am an outlier because I did not grow up here. Instead I grew up a Penn State fan and barely knew hoops existed.

I am now learning to love basketball though.

Kentucky basketball being made fun of is crazy, you think our football isn't made fun of. lots of jealousy there.
Ky bball is not made fun of....it's the fans that are made fun of for caring about 100 times more about bball than anyone in the rest of the country cares. Football is the game. If you're not good at that game, you don't have a quality athletic dept.

I prefer football over basketball and it's not even close. I watch UK men's basketball, but I don't watch or follow college basketball other than that. I do follow college football, and I enjoy watching most anyone play. There are a few I can't bear to watch, like Navy and Georgia Tech- I get no enjoyment watching the triple option...but other than that I can usually find something or someone to watch in almost any game that makes it enjoyable.

Used to love bball but the "culture" of the game has changed so much that it doesn't resemble the game I played as a high school student in the 70's. Thug behavior, beating and banging, theatrics after a good play (or almost any play). Hand checks, forearms, etc.... When I was calling games in the early 80's, a touch was called. Now they let that stuff go. The game looks like something you'd see on an inner city playground. Shooting is a lost art. Too much emphasis on taking the ball to the basket.

The only thing about the game that is better than it was 30 years ago is ball handling. The game has gone from being an artful game to a free for all complete with endless mouthing. Only thing worse than college bball is nba. It Sucks!

I prefer to watch college football over basketball.
I prefer Kentucky basketball to football. This didn't used to be the case, but our football program finally broke me.

This sum it up for me. I can watch about any college football game and be interested. I only watch Kentucky basketball. Watching the football team has become almost unbearable.

I know your school is basketball crazy. Just wondering how many of you prefer college football over the round ball.

As far as the Vols go, I've never met or heard anyone say they prefer men's basketball over our football program. We're about as football crazy as you'll find.

I can tolerate watching about one college football game a year. Pro football is better and I might watch 3 or 4 of those during a season. Other than that as far as sports is concerned I watch all of UK basketball games and as many other college games as I can fit into my schedule.

By the way, the arrogance that because football gets better ratings means it's a better game than basketball cracks me up. If we're playing that game, take a look at the popularity of the sports worldwide: basketball is much more popular. American football has yet to catch on outside of North America. Not saying that makes basketball better but it hurts the argument of "look how popular college football is in the South - that proves it's way better than college basketball."

Love Cal and our Cats, never miss a game...but Football is so much more fun to watch overall. I can sit and watch about any college football game and get into it. Basketball, not so much. I watch our Cats and that's it.

#1 because of the frequency of highly ranked teams playing each other in basketball is far less than football. Every weekend at least 3 games involve top 10 -15 teams facing off or at least major rivalry games regardless of rank. Sure we played Duke, Kansas yet to come. But that's 2 games over 3 months. No one in the SEC will be more than a 15th or less ranking when we play them, so less drama.

#2 every game matters so much more in football. 1 win can decide a shot at a division, conference or final 4. All football needs to do is dissolve the lesser bowl games and go to a 16 team playoff like the lower divisions have and it would be perfect. I think it will go to 8 teams in my lifetime but no further.

#3 Officiating in College BB is horrid at best... to really fishy to me...like bookie's calling the shots fishy. Want to keep a game close, call 2 quick touch fouls on the top teams best players & ignore hacks that lead to turnovers UL style by the underdog. Football not so much, There are good crews and bad but it usually goes both ways...outside of the Big 12 that looks rigged to protect its top few teams to help them survive upsets so they stay in the hunt for the final 4, sans a conference championship.

LOL bitter, jealous UK football first/only fans riding sack of football popularity like they ride sack of real SEC football programs in the postseason.

I support both equally, but college basketball is getting uglier every year. College football is as good as it's ever been and having an actual playoff system in place now makes it even better. As for the game day in person experience, football wins that by a mile too. Honestly, aside from UK having the top basketball program and a historically weak football program, football gets my vote and it's really not close.

UK basketball is more popular and is talked about more coast to coast on a daily basis than UK football ever has dreamed of. Most people would think of at least 50 other things before football if asked what comes to their mind when they hear the word Kentucky.

bball may be more popular to most Ky fans and is recognized nationally more than Ky Football. That's unique to Kentucky, nc, duke, indiana. Football vs bball: it's a matter of taste. In the scope of things, neither is important. Neither is worthy of even one second of moping around after a loss....which I've been guilty of. Preaching to my self.

The ONE time in my life we had a really good Football team- 1977, there was as much interest in Football as there was in what turned out to be the n c bball team.

To echo what others are saying, I love UK BB but I love UK FB even more. UK FB is like a crazy relationship with a crazy girlfriend - for some reason I just can't stop my interest and attraction in it in spite of the letdowns, the hurt, etc. that have been inflicted over the years. Sorry to be a melodramatic drama queen, but hopefully you get my drift.

College football is third on my list behind NFL football and college hoops.

Being a UK fan plays into that. I've never supported a winner and 8 wins is my high-water mark. I also like the pro rules more (continuous clock, spot fouls for PI, two feet for a catch, non-touched player not ruled down after falling, etc.) And, being an NFL junkie, the lower level of play in college is highly noticeable, especially with receivers dropping passes and kickers being awful from 30+.

I don't follow any sport except for college football. I spend FB saturdays watching every game I can. I attended the AFA and home football games were mandatory formation, I think that's what caused me to fall in love with it. The only college bball games I watch are UK and I miss one every once in awhile.

UK football/College football first, NFL & UK basketball in a dead heat for 2 & 2A.

Parents were BIG UK football/Bear Bryant fans, followed them everywhere on train trips.
I get it honestly and also have someone to blame lol.

Go Cats!
