Noticed on his stepback on Maleek Thomas there was no hitch, and the jumpshot looked very nice, but when he gets more than 2 seconds to shoot he winds it up

Morenos pull back is also something that I don’t understand. I noticed though that beautiful buzzer beater shot he didn’t have time to pull it back and it was nothing but net. Does this coaching staff even try to help these guys with their shot mechanics?
No the staff does not work on their shot mechanics. Pope said at this point in their career it would be a hard to fix and if they are making shots anyway it could only make them a worse shooter.Morenos pull back is also something that I don’t understand. Jones and Moreno both put the ball nearly at the back of their headIt’s certainly an odd looking shot. Got me thinking that other than MKG, I can’t think of a weirder looking jump shot by a UK player. I didn’t like Terrance Jones shot either but it went in quite a bit.
Although it’s generally hard to fix shot mechanics in college, those supposedly in the know say it’s possible sometimes (Buddy Hield’s being an example). But they also say someone in Moreno’s situation is the best candidate – in comparison to someone like Dioubate or even Oweh (although maybe Anon…8907 saw something with Oweh along the same point I’m getting ready to make). In high school when Moreno was on the move or thrown the ball and had to take a quick 8-12 ft. shot, his shot looked like the one he made to win the LSU game – a fine looking shot in front of his head rather than behind his head. They say when a player has this better shot form in his unconscious arsenal it’s much easier to get the player to the point that it becomes his conscious shot form. If this is correct, then it really would be a shame if someone didn’t push/help Moreno to fix this for both his perimeter and FT form.Morenos pull back is also something that I don’t understand. It is great that we have experts on the hitch and are shooting experts.Noticed on his stepback on Maleek Thomas there was no hitch, and the jumpshot looked very nice, but when he gets more than 2 seconds to shoot he winds it up

If any of y'all have young players stop that **** NOW. My kids started trying to mimic the funky stuff they see on tv both in baseball and basketball. I squashed that immediately. Old habits die hard ... stop it before they become old bad habits.I’m sure they do, but it’s going to be really hard to change years of muscle memory in just a few months unless the player is working really hard on his own to reinforce those new mechanics.
We also have some who are undefeated hall of fame college coaches. It is great that we have experts on the hitch and are shooting experts.
His “hitch” is almost gone. It’s most of the way there.Noticed on his stepback on Maleek Thomas there was no hitch, and the jumpshot looked very nice, but when he gets more than 2 seconds to shoot he winds it up
