Oweh update

OK so Norlander (someone that is not big on UK) is doing his clickbait stuff, has no idea. If Oweh is getting positive feedback (what does that mean). Is he getting a first round pick guarantee? Are they telling him he has improved a bunch but needs to go back and continue that process. That is such an open statement.

Still with the Draft pullouts, no one (well one) has him at 57 or 56. Wow what a move up from not drafted or 58.

Is this his agent trying to get an extra 250k, possibly (money runs everything), could it backfire, yes it could. Pope could call the bluff and tell them I have player x ready to sign at 1.25 mil. Oweh can just stay in the draft or take less to come back. He cannot go somewhere else (portal closed) and no coaching change.

We will know what they want us to know in 28.25 hours at the latest (or in the following morning) like others have discussed in years past.

It’s funny, they all said Oweh was doing pretty good in workouts but nothing stood out and that most everyone was telling him he needed to back to Kentucky. Now the last day, they are saying he’s gotten really good feed back, which is it. If he leaves that great situation he says he has at Kentucky for late second round or a guaranteed contract without getting drafted, that great situation at Kentucky was just talk. It couldn’t be that much more money if any, the NBA will be there next year.

Norlander building hype for a show that is predicated on getting as many views as possible.

He even said he still expects Oweh back.

All of the mock drafts that had Oweh in them now have him completely removed from draft contention, and yet "he's received really really good feedback" in that same time span?

The actual feedback: Otega, you could be a draft pick next year if you work on these elements of your game.

That doesn't mean anyone is going to snag him with a real contract beyond the two-way garbage that pays less than $600,000/year.

UK: Come back for one year, compete for a title, get $3.5 million for a season. Be hero-worshipped by the entire state while living like the Emperor of Rome.

NBA: We can maybe sorta offer you a two-way contract at 1/6th what you'll make at Kentucky, whereas you can live in cheap Best Western hotels while traveling coach for a season, where the biggest perk on a day-to-day basis is whether or not the hotel will serve bacon for the "get it before 10 AM" continental breakfast.

Yep, there's a big decision to make here, folks.

They won’t have time to pursue him. Oweh says “I’m gone” tomorrow at 9pm and pope has 3 hours to convince Luis to forgo the draft for uk. If Oweh leaves it will not be a good look for him. he will not reap the real benefits of being an alum at UK bb after 1 season if his legacy is preventing us from being able to replace him. Idk if he’s been paying attention but pope is swinging for the fences. He’s trying to win a title. He’s had plenty of time to know his draft stock.
I would assume Pope has been pursuing possible Oweh replacements for a while just so he’s not caught with his pants down tomorrow at 9pm.

You’re still one of the good ones. Not all chicken littles are built the same. Some of them have never heard positive news in their life. You add a lot to this site on a regular basis and it’s fun to give you a hard time about your pessimistic behavior.
No doubt, 90 percent of the time I’m joking. I just know I can get some people upset sometimes and I find that funny. Now I’m not gonna lie if Oweh stays in the draft I’m gonna be hurting a little for a coupel of days.

Unless that feedback is a first round guarantee, you have to figure that Oweh comes back.

He may be toxic if he comes back. He evidently cares more about the NBA and may turn into a selfish player trying to prove himself if he returns.

I say let’s “move on” and try to get a replacement or next man up.

And if you're wrong, you'll just write something like "I'm gladly eating crow" and this message board will be too euphoric to remember the tone of near-gloating that you exhibited in the face of some potentially bad news.

You lose nothing by hedging your bets on potential negatives. If you're right, you can say, "See, told ya so." And if you're wrong, you get to play the "I'll gladly eat crow" card.

It's a lame game.

You were one of the most vocal ones that told me I was wrong so if he doesn’t come back will you eat crow?

I'll admit that my best educated guess was wrong, and yes, I'll eat crow; but I won't be thumping my chest about Oweh leaving before he does either.

I’ve seen some crazy posts on here, hell I’ve had some of them myself. But this one is definitely the craziest and one of worst takes I’ve seen on here.

If he goes we should be happy for the guy. Kentucky will still probably be top 10ish. But probably closer to top 5 with him. Either way Pope will do fine

That's for one year. He may feel he has a better opportunity long term in the league. Not to mention, that 3.5 number is pure conjecture at this point. It could just as easily be 1.5 or 2.
He will have the same opportunity next year and might actually make out better with an improved resume.

Right now, there are no guarantees, or contracts being offered by Anyone in the NBA, not where he is projected to land.

What IS guaranteed, is a big fat payday at UK.

Oweh and Garrison have the chance to be great proof of development at Kentucky with Mark Pope. My hot take is Garrison is about to surprise the BBN and Oweh is about to say good-bye.

I am one that has said he will be back since day 1 of him entering the draft. Right now with all the info out there I still believe he will be back.

We all knew these vloggers and such would do click bait this week. Until we see some concrete evidence (either way/stay or go) I will stay on the side of Oweh staying at UK. No idea how much he is going to get from UK next year (1 to 3.5 mil) who knows, but most know if he is 2nd round he will not even make 1 mil or barely over 1 mil on a 2 year contract and most likely not even a guarantee that he would get that.

UK tonight is 14 strong, until he decides we are 14 strong.

I bet if he is at 50/50 chances he was open with Pope about that and CMP if he thinks he needs 1 more guy has someone or maybe a couple of guys he is in pursuit of right now. Either way Pope is wanting a big, VERY BIG year in year 2.

GO BIG BLUE!!!!

Sorry, but that doesn’t make sense. In what way would he be better off long term if he’s hearing he is barely in the second round? If that’s the case, what would coming back for a year do to HURT his long term league prospects?

If he’s confident he is good enough for the league now, then he should also be confident he would absolutely own the SEC next season. I can’t see what about that he would feel could somehow make his long term league prospects worse.

That doesn’t mean he will be back, but the key reasons I think he would make that choice:

1.) He gets a guarantee from a team, even in the second round, especially if it seemed like a favorable spot, or they had a clear opportunity for him to prove himself.
2.) Due to his brother, he’s not stressed for money and pursuing the NBA trumps coming back to UK, even though he might make less money.

Ah, the self resignation process has begun for this one. Keep saying thinks until it feels good.

Why can’t people just post that they think Oweh is staying in the draft or they think he will return?

Instead everyone has to pretend they know something and that they are smarter than the rest of us, just so they can pat themselves on the back for being right.

This is by far the worst part of this board: all the know it alls that live to be right about this or right about that.

When will people get it that this is a message board and we don’t know a stinking thing.

If you get it right, you guessed right. Big whoop. You win a coin flip. Have yourself a cookie. LOL!

To me, it feels like he will stick with the draft. I could be influenced by the Cal years, but that’s the vibe I’m getting.

I have no inside info or any superior rationalization.

This. Gut feeling. I could be, and hope I am, wrong.
