I let people though even if I'm not slow because it's courteous thing to do, IMO. I don't like holding people up.

Also, get what you're saying if you're going to end up having multiple people try to get through, but there was no one within 3-4 holes behind me. I did end up skipping a hole to get around them, but I prefer to play 18 holes instead of 17.

I'm pretty sure they just didn't have a clue what they were doing. They had a perfect opportunity to let me through on a par 5, but didn't so that's when I skipped them on the next hole.

Ok, which is worse, first tee jitters or jitters when someone lets you play though? Gotta go with that tee shot when someone lets you play through.

Playing a course in Atlanta a few years ago as a single. It was late October, middle of week, and my wife was at a seminar so I took my sticks.

Came upon a group of 3 on a par 3 on about the 5th hole. They were on the green and waved me through. Hit a beautiful shot that stuck about 4 feet from pin. All three were congratulating me when I got there. Of course I missed the birdie putt. One of them said "good thing you hit it close cause you putt like ****." [roll]

Also depends on if there are multiple 2somes & 3somes behind the 2some/3some that's pushing you. You let the 1st one through, you just start a game of backup and/or other groups that want/need to go through, and the next group is on the tee with you while you wait for the one you just let through.

If you go out on a weekend morning (or any other known prime time at your course) with anything less than 4, you deserve to wait imo. Pro shop shouldn't let that happen to begin with, tbh.

I can't stand being pushed on the golf course. I prefer to let anyone through, as I can't settle down with a group up my *** on every shot -- but most people disagree.

I am a very fast golfer. I am never caught if someone is not in front of me. However, the other day I started off birdie, birdie, par, par, par and a single was on my *** when I walked off the 5th green. It was like seeing Bigfoot or something. I could not believe it.

The point though is this, I hate to be rushed as well and I finished the front bogey, double, bogey, par, bogey. Parked it under a tree to let him pass on 10 and he went to the parking lot. Rushing totally busted the nice round I had going.

Never again!!!

Happy with my game again. Have shot a 78, 81, 76, 78 last 4 rounds. I still have that one bad drive that is an automatic double-triple that tears my heart out.

Most consistent my game has been in a long time. Hope I can stay here and get those scores even lower before the season is over.

Damn, apparently JB must have some important plans for Ryder Cup week that don't involve golf. After moving up to 5th in RC standings he hasn't played worth a crap. Took the Canadian Open off,
MC at the PGA and is going to MC by 8 strokes at Travelers today. :scream:

Jim Furyk needs pars on the last 3 holes to shot 59. If he can get one more birdie it will be the first 58 in tour history.

A bit OT, but just got back from a golf trip to Wisconsin, where I played Erin Hills and Whistling Straits. WS is just amazing, probably the most scenic and best course I have ever been on, hard as hell but actually, not unplayable if you can keep in play off the tee. Shot in the 80s with two doubles and a triple, which for me is not that bad on a course I never played before with a 140 slope. Had a lot of pars. Was not all that windy though.

Erin Hills will be interesting to see what the pros have to say about it next year. It also is hard as hell, but not as playable. The rough is VERY deep and tough, and outside the rough, there is more fescue there than in your average wheat field where you cannot find your ball and if you do, it will take a good shot just to wedge it back to the fairway. Had to take an unplayable in one bunker and honestly it is not all that hard to hit it to a spot in some of the bunkers which cannot be played. There are almost no trees on the course, which makes it "featureless" and seemed to be a fair number of blind shots. I think it will be difficult to get to and uncomfortable for the fans, because of location and lack of shade, on the whole will be a controversial Open venue IMHO.

Finally broke 90 for the first time this summer. I know that makes me the worst golfer in The Paddock but hey it made me happy. Went 42/46 from the blues. If I could have kept the driver online on back 9 it would have been even better.

I know this seems bass ackwards but I tend to play better from back tees than I do forward tees. Not the the tips but one up seems to actually help me for some reason. I think I probably am looser because I know I'm not reaching anything so I have to try to play target golf.

Harder for fans than Chambers Bay? Similar logistics?

Out of curiosity, what did that trip set you back cash wise? Got 2 eightsome golf trips each year and can barely get any of them to go anywhere besides Tennessee. I imagine the drive is over 8 hours from lex, but curious about the course and lodgings.

TIA

Hey Catman, my buddies and I go to Pinehurst every year. Just 4 of us but we usually get a nice condo 2 nights and 5 rounds for under $400/person. That rate doesn't get you any Pinehurst #2 but there are plenty of great courses in that area.

So will the talking heads still ***** about DLIII wanting him on the RC
I will, yes. 1 round as great and historic as it is doesn't merit a captain's pick. If he was a stalwart for many winning teams than, sure. However, I don't get the desire to have the same guys that we always lose with. Furyk is fine player, but what success has that gotten us in the Ryder Cup?

Furyk is 9-17-14 in Ryder Cup matches. That's terrible. That alone should make DLIII not want to pick him.

I agree completely. I wasn't saying he deserved it just commenting on all the talk about him.

We played 7 rounds on 7 courses, all but one of which was high end, needed caddies on several which required hefty tips. Honestly, $2500-3000.

Did that include lodging, etc.? Not that bad for the type courses you played. And you probably drove?

correct on both counts, no easy way to fly to Milwaukee from Lex, and then you have to rent a car, just too expensive to do it that way

#2 is over rated, not worth any where near $400, unless it is a one time thing just to experience it.

And that is why we will one day play it. Just to say we did. Just give me Tobacco Road every day. I love Mike Strantz. He was one crazy bastard course designer. Too bad Tot Hill Farm is going downhill.

Make sure to do whatever you can to hit fairways. Just a bit off on most holes and you have no chance.

We got a deal in Feb. to play #2 for $100.00 so that is only reason I played it. Glad I got to play it. We got that deal thru the Carolinas CGA

Both those courses can make a good golfer look like a beginner the first time you play it. I know from experience lol

Yep. Played Tobacco Road enough to at least know what not to do but last year was my first at Tot Hill. It was first round of our trip and I was ready to go home and quit playing.:flushed:

Went through a full driver fitting for the first time ever last week...and wow, what a shock that was. My driver (Ping Anser 10.5 standard S stock shaft) was ok...but I was terribly inconsistent. Turns out my spin rates were all over the place, and I had *too much* loft in my club (10.5), which goes against everything that you read in most articles.

Anyway, I hit almost everything out there (G30, M1/M2, Cobra), but ended up with the Titleist 915D2. The store had a bunch of rep demos on clearance, and I got it for $199, plus a nice offset with my Anser trade in. The shaft was much stiffer than my old one...and my loft was much lower (7.5), and he set everything up to be slightly upright. I was shocked at the loft, but my angle of attack apparently works better with the lower loft. I hit the 10.5, 9.5, 8.5 and 7.5, and the 7.5 was easily the most consistent club for me. Spin numbers dropped in half or more. And a much tighter dispersion.

Went to the course, and I was a good 10-20 yards longer off the tee, and my *bad* shots were a lot better than they used to be. The good shots weren't even in the same ballpark. Nothing tour quality, but I felt confident on the tee box for the first time in a long time. My goal is 250 and reasonably straight. If I can get *somewhat* close to that, I'll be happy.

Should've done the fitting a long time ago. I would've never bought that club on my own. I wouldn't have even looked at it.

Thanks for sharing 73. Everyone who plays need to do this. I plan on doing it next time I get a set of irons and driver.

Amazing what a difference the right equipment makes.
