Went through a full driver fitting for the first time ever last week...and wow, what a shock that was. My driver (Ping Anser 10.5 standard S stock shaft) was ok...but I was terribly inconsistent. Turns out my spin rates were all over the place, and I had *too much* loft in my club (10.5), which goes against everything that you read in most articles.

Anyway, I hit almost everything out there (G30, M1/M2, Cobra), but ended up with the Titleist 915D3. The store had a bunch of rep demos on clearance, and I got it for $199, plus a nice offset with my Anser trade in. The shaft was much stiffer than my old one...and my loft was much lower (7.5), and he set everything up to be slightly upright. I was shocked at the loft, but my angle of attack apparently works better with the lower loft. I hit the 10.5, 9.5, 8.5 and 7.5, and the 7.5 was easily the most consistent club for me. Spin numbers dropped in half or more. And a much tighter dispersion.

Went to the course, and I was a good 10-20 yards longer off the tee, and my *bad* shots were a lot better than they used to be. The good shots weren't even in the same ballpark. Nothing tour quality, but I felt confident on the tee box for the first time in a long time. My goal is 250 and reasonably straight. If I can get *somewhat* close to that, I'll be happy.

Should've done the fitting a long time ago. I would've never bought that club on my own. I wouldn't have even looked at it.
I have been looking at the 915 D2. Want more forgiveness. Think I am going to wait until the 917 is released soon and hopefully a new 915 will come down more in price (going the Demo route is a great idea as well). Also want to hit several at the club range using the flightscope to make sure the numbers make sense to change to the 915.

I am slowly going to work my way to having everything Titleist. I bought a 915 5 wood which is the best wood I have ever hit. So much that I do not even need a 3 wood now.

Tried the M2 but hate the sound it gives off when you hit a ball.

Irons wise, have the Mizuno MP 54's right now. Great club. I bought them with the notion that I need something to help work the ball better, but had to give up forgiveness. After playing with them for a few years I think I have all the "data" I need and realize I need more forgiveness and think I will go to the Titleist AP1's and call it bag for several years to come.

Don't steal golf clubs.:flushed:

Donald Acree was in the parking lot of a Tulsa-area Golf Galaxy store, when he saw a young man walking across the parking lot with clubs that Acree identified as ones that were stolen from him earlier in the day at LaFortune Park Golf Course. Acree, 59, confronted the man with the clubs, ultimately drawing his gun on the suspected thief and forcing him to the ground under threat of shooting him.

"I'm gonna kill you," Acree told the suspect, if the suspect didn't get on the ground.

Several store patrons that were in the parking lot came up to the situation, asking Acree to calm down and refrain from shooting the suspect.

“I didn’t do anything,” the suspect, later identified as 24-year-old Devon Montgomery, said.

"Those are my clubs right there, mother f****er," Acree said.

In a 2-minute, 46-second video posted to YouTube by a filming customer, Acree, who identifies himself as a police officer before clarifying that he's retired, can be seen kicking Montgomery in the head with what appears to be golf spikes.

“F*** you. I’m suing you,” Montgomery said from the ground.

Acree said in the video that surveillance footage at the club caught the theft of his clubs. A man enters the shot, explaining that he was contacted about the clubs and was going to buy them. Acree then explains the bag has his name on it and details the equipment in the bag.

Ultimately, Tulsa police arrested Montgomery, charging him with grand larceny for the theft of the golf clubs before releasing him on $1,000 bond. Montgomery told police on the scene that he had taken the clubs, but then refused to say more. On Aug. 2, according to the Tulsa World, Montgomery was formally charged with grand larceny for the theft of approximately $3,800 of Acree's equipment and personal belongings.

Looks like Tiger will play these irons when he returns to golf, which i hope is at Safeway or at the latest Hero in December.

I have read that Miura has always made his clubs and they just Nike stamped them. If true, which I don't doubt at all, then it won't be a true change with irons.

Looks like Jim Furyk has punched his ticket on to the Ryder Cup team. He's experience of being a well below .500 player will be invaluable for the Europeans as they attempt to win yet again. That's somewhat in jest, but I've told multiple people if him and Fowler are captain's picks the Euros will have it pretty much locked up less than half way through Sunday's matches. It won't be close.

On another note, J.B. Holmes has done everything he can to get left off that team. 3 straight MC's. Looking like he'll need a top 10 at the Barclay's to make it on points. He's going to be 9th on the points list after this week. After the British he looked like a lock and with his recent play and the way I think Love will make his picks, Holmes will be left off the team.

Can't really blame DLIII if he leaves JB off given his recent play. Wonder what is up with his game right now.

As for Furyk, I'm on the fence about him but everyone seems to be harping on his RC record but hell most American players of this generation have losing records because we suck at RC.

I wouldn't blame Love either. The Ryder Cup record should be an extremely important factor in picking the captain's picks. We always lose in part because we trot the same guys out there yet we act surprised when the same thing happens. It's hard to advocate to pick JB at this point. However, Love did say the course was perfect for him so we'll see. Either way there's far better options than Jim Furyk and Rickie Fowler as Ryder Cup players.

Played the Wildcat at U Club on Sunday.

The greens and fringes were horrendous. Bare spots on the greens. Probably over half of greens. Fringes were just as bad. Some grass, some bare, some weeds.

Only played 13 holes. Felt a pop in my left ring finger during my swing on 13th tee. Couldn't bend my finger of grip the club. Watched the last 5 holes while my buddies played. Hurt like a mofo. Severe sprain! WTF?

Last thing. Apparently Sunday was douchebag day at the course. Go into pay and hear the starter telling the guy he had a GolfNow tee time and was supposed to stick to it but he'd let them go anyway. Didn't think much about but paid and went on out. We were a foursome and the DB group was a theeesome. They never pushed us. They were on the tees while we were on the greens. About 6th hole ranger comes out and tells us the DB had called the pro shop to say we were holding them up. We weren't but what kind of ***** calls the pro shop instead of having the balls to ask to play through or say something to us.

We would have let them play through even though our pace of play was fine. DB wouldn't stop when we let him go by. His buddy did and apologized for DB calling the pro shop. Said he was in a big hurry.

Rule #1 when playing Golf. If you are in a hurry to play a round, don't. Golf is not a sprint race. If you are going to play 18 (especially on weekends), you better have at least 4 hours to kill or you need to find something else to do that day.

Main reason I joined a Private Club was to avoid the crappy pace of play issues I always dealt with on public courses.

If they weren't on you, how did you let them go through? Did you all just stop and wait for a hole for them to catch you? Did you all never in turn catch them, especially when you all played as as a threesome the last 4 holes? Just a little confused by your story.

My course switched to Tiffeagle Greens because the bent grass was getting crushed by the heat every summer. We just got tired of the extra costs to try and keep them up. Was not a cheap switch and sucked having to close the course over the summer but it was worth it when it was done.

fairways or greens that have a lot of poa are getting killed, just cannot keep them alive in this weather.

I forget, where do you play?

We were getting ready to tee off on 6 or 7. They had just teed off behind us. Ranger went back to tell them we said for them to come on. They hit their approach shots, picked up and came straight to tee box and took off. We just waited for them.

I'm always going to let people through regardless of my pace of play when the course isn't crowded. We weren't slow and I didn't care to let them through but just ask instead of calling the pro shop.

And we didn't catch them. Have no idea if they played all 18 or not. The one guy said the one who called had someplace to be.

Starting to get back into a groove. 85 last night from the Blues. 6600 yards...felt like 7000 with the wind..it was hard to get close to the pin...every approach shot was an adventure. Hit an 8 iron from 100 yards out on 1 shot. o_O

Felt good to play and walk 18 again though. I've mostly just played 9s this year. Keeping the ball in the fairway helps...thanks driver fitting.

Ran into a guy at Dicks the other day. Said he used to work at Golfsmith. He told me Mizuno made almost all of Nike's golf clubs. No idea if he actually knows anything but seems to be in line with some other things floating around in this thread.

The American Ryder Cup automatic qualifiers are set. The team so far is:
Dustin Johnson
Jordan Spieth
Phil Mickelson
Jimmy Walker
Patrick Reed
Brooks Koepka
Zach Johnson
Brandt Snedeker

Who is everyone's captain's picks. I'm going with Daniel Berger, Bubba Watson, Matt Kuchar and J.B. Holmes. Berger is a guy that I think is perfect for the Ryder Cup. Bubba/JB would be a great pairing in four ball especially when you could have a DJ/Koepka team as well. Kuchar earned the spot based on his Olympics play and has a decent Ryder Cup record. Rickie Fowler and Jim Furyk simply have been garbage in Ryder Cups and I think they should be left off the team.

I love JB but no way I pick him. He is having a horrendous stretch of golf right now. Had a spot all but locked up after The Open and done nothing since then.

I can definitely see why he'd be left off. I just think we need to do something different in order to win. I think JB/Bubba would be a great pairing in fourball. JB did well in his lone Ryder Cup and he and Bubba were a good pairing in the President's Cup.

Bubba Watson is the only sure Captain's pick. Then I would bet that Fowler gets picked.

After that, really hard to choose. I would take Justin Thomas as a wild card, young, really long, and an up and comer.

Jim Furyk?? I mean, come on. Might as well take Paul Azinger, Steve Stricker and Davis Love III himself if you are going to go that route.

I was thinking along those lines too. Maybe take Fowler, Thomas, Kaufman, some of those younger guys because they seem to all really like each other and could maybe develop some good chemistry.

I know he's one of the most talented players we have but Fowler has proven to be pretty bad in the Ryder Cup. He played all 5 matches last go around and didn't win a single match. I'm not sure if he and Jimmy Walker were the only ones to do that in history or if it had just been a while since it had happened before. He didn't do well in the 2010 Ryder Cup either. Yea, he won 4 straight holes to keep the Americans alive, but that was to just halve his match. He's just not good in the Ryder Cup.

I've said on here often that I want to see us do something outside the box. What's the point of the "task force" if we just do the same things as before? We've lost 6 of the last 7 I believe, it's time to try something new. If that means pick guys that haven't had the chance like Thomas, Berger and Kaufman I'm all for it. I just think taking guys that have a history of performing poorly in the Ryder Cup shouldn't be captain's picks.
