And here's why I'm done with Stansbury.

Understand this: Dan Mullen just took 100 football players to
Jacksonville for Mississippi State’s bowl game without incident and
played brilliantly against Michigan. But Rick Stansbury’s 15 basketball
players couldn’t get through a trip to Hawaii without three suspensions
and player-on-player violence in a public setting.
Rick's new role as ringmaster of the MSU basketball circus is too much for me to swallow. Mullen's players not only can play the crap out of some football, but they were, according to the Gator Bowl officials, the politest and most well-mannered group they had ever encountered. See, you can both win AND have well-behaved players. Rick has now made us a national laughing stock with this ridiculous schedule and assinine "discipline". This feels exactly like Jackie Sherrill, circa 2002-2003. All that's missing is a drug dealer and 2 thugs staying at the Ramada.

talks about someone slacking when he didn't research enough to report that we are 1-1 with Sidney playing.

He screws up our record with Bailey and screws up Bost's remaining eligibility. Any fact checking these days? Or are 'Senior Writers' at ESPN just submitting stories unchecked from their homes these days?

With that said, he is spot on with what he is saying...and that pains me to admit, since he is a massive douche.

Or that Dee Bost is a junior.

No matter how I feel about the situation, it is hard to give much credence to a writer on a story about a coach's credibility when the article doesn't even have the correct facts to begin with. Sounds more like an axe grinding piece.

I never thought I'd see a day where you criticized Stans for his schedule or his handling of his players. We've had some pretty passionate arguments about it over the years. No flame....I'm just surprised.

That article is garbage. Inaccurate and narrow-minded. He's just looking for a reason to pile on Stans, much like many of you. Our staff deserves the heat for our pathetic performances thus far, but we handled the fight situation just fine. I have no problem with Sidney suiting up Saturday afternoon, and anyone who does isn't seeing the big picture.

....everyone is just "piling on"? What a load of crap.

You are defending the indefensible. The article was on the money. The entire program has become an embarrassment and a national laughingstock.</p>

I had a few "last straw" moments this year. I was ok about the first suspension after the practice fight. Hard to know exactly what happened in a practice. Then the dumbass takes a swing at a teammate in the stands on national TV. That was it for me. Now, the jackass has gotten in two fights and is suspended for a total of 3 games. Meanwhile, Bailey, who had never had any discpline issues that I'm aware of, has "asked to transfer". Ridiculous "discipline" and reeks of desperation. The schedule was a joke - playing all those games and flying all over the Western Hemisphere. And we see it accomplished absolutely nothing except dividing the "team". This is a train wreck in the making and Stansbury's handling of it has caused great embarassment to MY alma mater, just 2 days after Mullen did the exact opposite for our university in Jacksonville. I see this basketball circus going down Sherrill-style.

we agree more often than not on football. I just had a longer leash for Rick because he has, like it or not, won a shitton of basketball games. But this kind of embarrasment reflects bad on my alma mater and I won't stand for it. ESPECIALLY 2 days after one of the best moments for our university in quite a few years. I guess I owe you a half-hearted "you were right", although I still disagree with you that winning division championships are worthless.

When the brawl occurred and we'd just gotten our asses handed to us by Va Tech, Wazzu, and Hawaii.<div>
</div><div>Are you that insecure? We have time to mend our image. Who cares what Pat Forde thinks? That guy has had it out for Stansbury and State for years. Finally our program f*cks up big time and he waits over a week to lay the wood? With multiple inaccuracies to boot... F*ck Forde, he's a tool.</div><div>
</div><div>We made the right decision today. The NCAA's ridiculous suspension doesn't leave us with enough time to justify suspending him any longer. He's already sat out 40+ games for something insignificant. What will a few more games teach him? Nothing. What will kicking him off the team teach him? Nothing. Where will it get us? Nowhere. His punishment is the embarrassment he caused himself and our program. That will teach him far more than any amount of games.</div><div>
</div><div>Put yourself in his shoes. Don't you think he's ready to make things right? I sure as **** do. And if he's not... fine, we can send him packing. If he's that big of a 17-up, we can throw in the towel on this season. But everyone deserves a second chance. Look at the national perception of Ron Artest and Michael Vick. The media's agenda is short term sensationalism, not long term impact.</div><div>
We've invested too much in Sidney. And the big picture is that it was one bad trip for an immature, spoiled athlete barely old enough to order a beer. **** happens. Get over it.</div><div>
</div><div>I'm not defending Stansbury on what happened in 2010. He doesn't deserve to keep his job at the current pace of this season. But this season is far from over.</div>

I am about as far off the Stansbury wagon as I can get at this point. I am tired of seeing a team that always seems to just be going through the motions. They have not seemed to be fired up about anything since Rhodes and Gordon were there. No fire or determination from the team or the head coach. The fight and the unprofessional appearance of our team in Hawaii as well as Sidney being so out of shape just sealed it.

I still totally disagree that we have endured 13 years of "mediocrity" under Stansbury because there are several SEC teams that would have loved to have had ouraccomplishments over the last decade. Much like Sherrill, he did alot of good things at MSU and is our all time winningest coach like it or not. Most coaches eventually hit a point where it is time to move on and that time in now for Stansbury.

Sorry to disappoint now that I got me some smart. I do, however, reserve the right to jump back on the wagon in the unlikely event that we go 14-2 and win the SEC title.</p>

The Recruiter has reached his ceiling, and we have bounced off it and are on the way down

I've defended Stans a lot in the past, but this thing is a trainwreck. I could care less about basketball right now, and that's not simply a result of the football season we just had. We are a joke.

Winning is important, but you cannot win at any cost. That's my problem with the handling of the Cam Newton and Ohio State situations. There have to be rules, there has to be enforcement of those rules, and things have to be done fairly across the board. Sidney is a total and complete waste of talent. He should be gone right now. Instead we will give him another chance. Whatever. If he was a benchwarmer he'd be gone. I'd have a lot more respect for Stansbury if he sent Sidney packing and the season went south.

in the tourney? Would you be o.k. with that? I wouldn't.

Hell 14 and 2 might not get us in.

I'll have enjoyed the heck out of 14-2 and I'll want some more of it next year, when Dee will for sure return and Sid is likely to (NBA lockout).
