Rafael was not happy with Byrne not granting Polk's wishes with Raffo- he was actually committed to MSU but went the JUCO route after we hired Cohen.

Patrick only hit something like .250 last year in JUCO and was actually benched for someone else last year. I'm happy to see him doing well now, though.

We should have given Grisham's son a spot, but I wouldn't say it was a turning point for our whole baseball program.

And we already have a building named after Palmeiro.

And believeable.

I'm not big on just handing out positions because oflast names, but there are a handful of last names that must be considered. Grisham and Palmeiro were definitely two of them. Polk gave Scott Clark a spot. He was never a contributor, but still had enought talent to justify a uniform. I'm surprised Polk didn't recognize that with Grisham. I'm sure Cohen was going after a higher standard at the time, but missed with a lot of those guys.

Are there any famous MSU sons coming up through the HS ranks in the next few years? Is there a Bulldog Bruce Jr. out there?

Polk certainly did his share of turning away MSU people- like Logan Powers, Bryce Brentz, Conner Gillespie, Louis Coleman, Stephen Head, and etc., etc., etc. But for some God unknown illogical reason, Pat wouldn't let Grisham have a shot to walk-on the team. I can't pin that one on Coach Polk.

Polk might have turned him away too, but I think Polk probably would have told him to go to JUCO for a couple of years and then maybe he could walk-on.

There are some legacies out there- the best prospect is Rafeal's younger son- Preston Palmeiro, who is a sophomore SS in high school, and he will be a big time prospect in a few years. Maybe things will be smoothed over by then- I hope. But he is better than his older brother.

The others are more walk-on type of guys- Casey Echols is the son of Tracy Echols and he plays at Brandon High School. He could play his way into a scholarship if he has a big junior year.

Miles Miskelly is a RH pitcher at Jackson Prep, and his Dad own Miskelly's furniture, and they are MSU alums. He is a senior, and he is definately a walk-on guy- he has an ERA of 5.25 at Prep right now in only 2.2 innings.

There are probably some others that I am leaving out, but those are the ones off of the top of my head.
