It is the beginning of the end for here in Starkville. He said Mullen has had numerous chances to win big games, and he has failed miserably!!

Agreed. He's not on the hot seat unless he loses the Egg Bowl in Starkville. That would likely put us at 4-8 this year which is obviously an underachievement. He'll have 2014 to figure **** out.

Now obviously there are extenuating circumstances......say we beat South Carolina and Arkansas but lose to Ole Miss and end up 6-6. He won't be on the hot seat then. I think it's a combination of a losing record and losing at home to the Rebels.

You have to appreciate Finebaum for what he is. He's entertaining, knows the rumors and stirs the pot. In no way, shape or form is he qualified to judge a coach or pick a football game. If you accept that, you can really appreciate his genius.

I thought you were talking about yourselves.

I'm not so sure about beginning of the end..

I think it will be more about the finalized result of a gradual process called, excepting reality under Mullen. If we don't get either, LSU or Bama this year, we will never beat those two teams with Mullen as coach. I don't care if he's here 5 more years, if Saban and Miles are still in place it'll never happen. This year will be our best chance to get either one.

I think Dan's seat gets warm if he starts losing in games that we are favored to win. Also, getting blown out by any team, combined with losses to OM.

Accepting reality? The reality is that had we beaten Auburn this year, we would all feel good right now. It's not the Alabamas and LSUs that bug me, it's the other ones that we come close to winning but end up blowing it. Hell, it wouldn't bother me if we went 10-2 every year or 9-3 and never beat those 17ers.

Talking about firing Mullen now makes about as much sense as the bears talking about firing Bianco or Kennedy for that matter. It's acting like a coaching change is the only thing we need to be in the elite ranks of the toughest division of the toughest conference in college football.

Now if they fire Kennedy for being a complete douche, I get it.

So now people are using the one guaranteed, money in the bank, loss* on our schedule every year as a barometer of coaching success.
Nice.

*PLEASE, feel free to prove me wrong tonight, guys.

Finebaum sure has some big ears. Not sure what that has to do with anything.

He would be absolutely correct. A down (talent-wise) and tired LSU is coming to Starkville, if we cannot win this game then it is THE BEGINNING of the end. Dan has had more than a handful of opportunities to beat a team he isn't supposed to. He talked about changing the atmosphere/losing mentality in Starkvegas. Well, he has, and now we are no longer satisfied with a team coasting to a bowl game on the backs of FCS opponents while consistently failing to compete in the SECW. *Not win, compete. There is a difference

Give him another year. In all seriousness, remember that We Are Miss Stake. We can't fire coaches for going .500 and going to bowl games. Especially since his recruiting is picking up (outside Hevesy).

We've also had a few way too close losses that were almost huge wins

LSU and UF in '09, Arkansas and Auburn in '10, and USC in '11 were all games that we coulda/shoulda won. If you're trying to make the point that all of our losses to ranked teams were blowouts, you'd be wrong.
