that me, dawgstudent, MrMeoff and fishwater could suit up and not get beat any worse than those guys did. I do give them credit that they didn't just completely suck in the second half though. And we sure didn't lose because of our defense. Our defense gave up 16 points despite 3 turnovers (not counting the pick-6). That's good enough to win most games.

stick to the analysis and let the bulldogs do the screwing up on the field. next you are going to tell me that HD6 could go in as quarterback.

but it should be safe to assume Washington should be taken out. He has been getting burned for 2 seasons.

Washington was nowhere to be found on "coverage" and sometimes wasn't even the screen at all when his man made a catch. I still don't understand why LSU didn't throw at him all day long.

I talked to Mullen's assistant yesterday and he said Mullen was pissed - He chewed everyones *** even told the strength coach it was his fault that we weren't strong enough to get 6 inches.
He is all about accountability.

Considering that neither of the plays from six inches were about strength and on third down, when carrying out the fake, Dixon could have scored easily had he had the ball.

Hell, if there's ever a play in football where strength is what it comes down to, that's the one.

Tyson pitches the ball, we score. Problem is, he tried to do something with the play that it was not designed to do.
If it had been a designed sneak, he would have scored cause JC Brignone beat the guy in front of him. Tyson got stopped by help that had time to get there because of the delay due to faking the dive. That has nothing to do with strength. That has to do with decision making.

I think the point Mullen is making is that we will not accept defeat. He doesn't want to hear about "moral victories", or "we almost won", or "we scared a top-10 team". Mullen wants to win. Croom used to talk about our lack of talent when he first came to MSU. That gave players a built-in excuse for going 3-9. Mullen knows our talent isn't on par with LSU, but he doesn't care. He came to win. Players better play to win and coaches better coach to win.

Chewing out asses is just making a point that being close just isn't good enough.

The problem was execution, and not strength. On the 3rd down, Tyson lee was supposed to have executed a jump pass, but he failed to jump. This was actually a very good call and should have won the ball game, but Lee 17'd it up. Then, on fourth down, the play was a QB option. Lee saw a seam and tried to take it instead of pitching the ball to a 235lb running back that just abused the LSU defense. Once again, a lack of execution on what was another excellent play call.

I just don't believe all of that post. He has made it clear that he is big on accountability and that he won't tolerate losing. But he has also made it clear that he is willing to give credit where credit is due. I doubt he would make an obviously ludicrous statement just to supposedly show that.

Back to the original issue of changes to the secondary. I know Broomfield looked good against JSU on a couple of plays but haven't seen him against good receivers and he's a RSF so can't expect too much. Langston is a wild card but hasn't played CB in years. Watson is same boat as Broomfield.

But Anderson has clearly been poor and most teams have picked on him more than Washington. I agree Washington got toasted twice against LSU but based on his body of work I don't think he's truly as awful as most make him out to be. I think he's an ok No. 2 or No. 3 corner in the league and he's been a pretty goos special teams player for us.

Also have to remember that from everything I've heard about the guy over the years, Melvin can recruit but is pretty subpar on actually coaching his position. He's mentioned several times that Anderson had NFL ability.

Washington can be taken out. Although he did get burned a couple of times against LSU, his body of work this year is not bad, like someone on here already said. When compared to Zach Smith, who is without question the worst cover DB in the SEC, and Charles Mitchell, who despite his speed and talent still can't grasp what it means to play safety in a cover 2, and Anderson, who gives up 15 yards on every out and curl route consistently because he is scared to get burned deep, I would say Marcus Washington is the lesser of all the evils in the secondary, if not a positive at times.
