Plus 3 more blocks. If he was a little better finisher, he'd be a terror.

Pirates got some big contributions from the end of the bench which helped big time as Fisher and Williams couldn't get it going and AJ was shutout in 2nd half.

8 big points for Parker including the 3 big Free throws & 8 from Rivera.

He’s missing fluidity in the post. He’s a vertical player which is good for rebounding but not for craftiness and maneuvering to score. Just not a post up center. But he’s tough as hell and team player.

Rivera has now put together consecutive strong games. Glad to be eating crow a bit on him.

I thought Marquette took it to use much of the game but the offensive rebounds kept us close.

Then Marquette took their foot off the petal in the final 5 minutes and started to milk the clock instead of playing fast which worked for them all game.

They were up 7 with 4 minutes left and got a steal and Ross miss the WIDE open layup that would have put them up 9. We got a bit lucky but good teams pull out games and make you earn the win. Marquette didn't earn it the final 4 minutes.

Yeah the Golden Eagles destroyed their momentum by milking the clock. Shaka looked bad there.

He is, but I like that he uses both hands underneath.

He needs to utilize a drop step. He gets that down, look out.

Great game by Steph. Another game with 10 bds at the half. If they force him the wrong way, dont shoot it. And he only had 2 fouls.. 8-12 from the line too, can live with that.

Like fish said, lots of help from rivera and the 3 huge fts from parker were huge. And the simpkins steal...massive.

we outshot then from 1, 2 and 3.

Rivera and Hines were 4 for 4 at the line in 2nd half. Huge points.

Yeah I don't expect much of anything from him in the post. Just wish he could dunk or lay-in more of his offensive rebounds. He was 3 for 8 and got fouled shooting 6 times.

Rivera looking better is really big since Fisher has been inconsistent and Dar hasn't been effective. PF is our weakest position overall.

Bingo. Once Marquette started to play a half court game, changed their effectiveness totally.
I’ll give it to the announcers as they nailed this.

And us going to zone had something to do with that as well. Changed the tempo

Marquette is not a good team. Neither is Providence. Nova a different story.

Crazy to say: if the season ended tonight-Payne would be BE player of the year. He’s been stellar as of late. I can’t even begin to express how happy I am with Sha’s scouting ability this year! Really happy with how we’ve turned out so far.

He averages 7.9 & 7.9. BE POY? He’s not sniffing an all conference team lol. But yes he’s been very good for 2 out of 3 BE games

Marquette had a good gameplan and the personnel to pull it off. They were clearly trying to go fast and avoid the turnovers and physicality of SHU's defense. Our defense was nonexistent for most of the game and it was a minor miracle we were up 39-38 at halftime, IMO, Staton-McCray bailed out the defense with his 3PT shooting in the first half.

Then MU lost all momentum they had generated. That layup was a blunder and I also thought we blew a couple wide open looks that was going to come back to haunt us (a Simpkins 3 comes to mind).

Marquette is not a good team. Neither is Providence. Nova a different story.
That's why beating them both on the road early in the season was so important. Bad teams become rollovers later in the years. I think the Friars have a chance to be decent, Marquette not so much.

Happy for Payne seems like a great kid. Been a good representative of Seton hall.

Marquette has the worst front court in the league. So there’s that. Our success moving fwd runs through Hines
