imo the peach bowl is if things dont go well. I'm dreaming of capital one, cotton, or maybe gator. Though I do love the peach bowl due to a free place to stay.

I think the MSU/Arkansas winner gets the Cotton and the loser gets the Gator.

I understand that we've only been bowling once in the past decade, but why does everyone seem to feel comfortable settling for the Chik Fil A Bowl? If we were to finish 8-4 in the SEC, I feel like that bowl is a slap in the face, ESPECIALLY with Florida and Georgia being down. I'd much rather go to the Gator or Outback and whip the **** out of a Big 10 team. At worst, Cotton Bowl at Jerry World.

Say Auburn and Alabama to the BCS. LSU to Capital One. I'm sure the Cotton is salivating over Arkansas. Are you telling me you'd feel good about the Outback or Gator Bowls passing us up?

8 wins gets us Gator Bowl at a minimum I think. If Auburn stays undefeated and Bama only has 1 loss going into the Iron Bowl, the winner of that game will go to the title game. I think the other will get the Sugar Bowl because they will never take the SEC East winner over either of those 2 teams. Then either LSU or SC if they win the East will go Capital One. The other one of those goes to the Cotton Bowl. Then it all depends on records from there. We go 8-4and we will have a shot at Outback or Gator. We go 9-3 and we get in the Cotton Bowl discussion. 7-5 gets us Peach Bowlprobably.

Chick-Fil-A (Peach) picks ahead of the Gator Bowl though I think Jacksonville would be a fun place for a bowl trip. I'm there on business several times a year and it is a nice place.I think weneed to win out to get a shot at Capital One Bowl. Beating Arkansas and the Bears probably gets us in the Cotton Bowl, especially if Arkansas loses when they play at South Carolina. 8-4 should get us into Chick-Fil-A or Gator. </p>

Chick-fil-A is the fifth pick and Gator is sixth. Cotton goes to a West team, Outback goes to an East team. We have to beat UPig and UM to get into the Cotton.

We've been passed over bowl trips we've earned for years upon years. Time and time again. After the '94 season, a 7-4 Tennessee team we beat got a higher bowl bid than an 8-3 Bulldog team. They went to the Gator Bowl, and we went to the Peach. Our 1999 team that went 9-2 only managed a Peach Bowl invitation. Right now, we're in front of Kentucky/Georgia and behind Auburn, LSU, Alabama, Arkansas, South Carolina, Florida. If we lose our last 3, we'll drop behind Georgia as well, putting us in line for the Music City Bowl. A 6-6 Georgia team will get a higher pecking order slot than MSU. I think even at 8-4, the Peach Bowl is the absolute best we can do. We're just not going to pass Auburn, LSU, Alabama, Arkansas, USC, and Florida in the pecking order. The SEC protects the interests of its big money schools.

...I agree with your logic. We'd have to win 2 or our last 3 to go to the Cotton. It is well within the realm of possibility that we could lose our last three.

Even with the new Cowboy stadium Atlanta is a much better venue for a bowl game. Cotton Bowl is not what it used to be so would rather play as the only (and usually highly rated) game on New Years Eve for wider exposure. Plus Dallas blows.

Let's not be ridiculous. Do you realize the Peach Bowl is one of the best payouts of all the non-BCS bowls? Plus, it's located in an easy-to-get-to city, is played indoors, and always offers a quality opponent.

I'd rather play in the peach bowl than the cotton bowl or the gator bowl. I just think it's a better bowl.

The Peach Bowl is probably the best run and most popular non-BCS bowl there is. It's always a competitive game in front of a sold-out crowd in a great facility. I'd rather play an ACC team in the Peach Bowl than a Big 10 team in a 1/4 empty stadium in the Gator Bowl.

One other advantage besides all the ones you and riverdawg mention is, the Peach always has a better time slot (and is the only bowl game on) than many of the so-called "better" bowls like the Outback or Cotton. If you're playing your bowl game at 10:00 AM on New Year's Day and competing with 3 other bowls playing in the same time slot, your bowl sucks.

Work with me here:<div>
</div><div>We win out.</div><div>Auburn wins out.</div><div>LSU loses to Ark and Bama. </div><div>The SEC East sends a 3 loss team to the SECCG and loses to Auburn.</div><div>
</div><div>In the above scenario, we'd finish 10-2...2nd in the SEC (Head-to-head over Bama). BCS bound (Sugar bowl)!!!</div><div>
</div><div>Okay, I admit... too many drinks and too much fur can do this to you.</div><div>
</div><div>Having said that, I think Bama beats us handily at T-Town and we beat Ark and T-S-U-N. I definitely like our chances vs Arkansas...Manny & Wilson will be ready.</div>

Of all the MSU bowls that I've personally experienced- Cotton, Liberty, and Peach. I missed the Indy Bowl in 2000, but I have a feeling it wasn't as good as the Peach.

I know I'm in the minority, but I actually didn't really think that we got snubbed when we got picked by the Peach vs the Outback. To me, those are very similar, and personally, I would rather go to the Peach as well. To me, it would be like being pissed that the Orange Bowl picked you vs the Sugar Bowl.

I think the best bowl that we could realistically do is either the Capitol One or the Cotton.

I'll tell you what would be interesting:

We win out.

Bama beats LSU, but beats Auburn.

LSU wins out other than Bama.

What you end up with is Auburn winning the West, and then a two loss MSU, a two loss Alabama, and a two loss LSU. That would be interesting to see how that played out with the bowls.

No more 10am, It is all by itself on Friday, JAN 7th....at 7pm

and Cotton has upped it's pay, current figues are $3,575,000 (Cap One is $4,250,000) vs in the Peach it is $3,250 for ACC, $2,400,000 for SEC.

Auburn goes to Sugar after winning the SEC CG
Bama could still be in line for a possible at large if they stay top 12 in BCS which I think is very possibly in this situation.
LSU goes to Cap One over us rightly due to beating us and larger fanbase.
MSU goes to Cotton (Or if there was ever a year a MSU team would look better than a East team for the Outback..highly unlikely though)

How about something crazy though?
Say the SEC East team wins the CG and therefore goes to the Sugar Bowl...with 2-3 losses.
No west team in the BCS at all.
MSU would then end up in the Gator or the Liberty... OUCH

Friday January 7 is a terrible time for a bowl game. Most of the free world is back at work at that time, having just burned some vacation for the holidays. Gimme the New Year's Eve Peach Bowl 100 times out of 100 in that one.

like previous poster said. Loser goes to the Peach.

With the Florida bowls , I think LSU ends up inthe Capitol One, South Carolina in the Gator , and Florida in the Outback.

The ACC nows sends its #2 team now to the PEach since we took their Gator Bowl tie-in. I am someone excited about going to the Peach ,and very likely that Florida State ends up there.

Bama must get by LSU in the Swamp Saturday. I figure they will.

We will play Bama's *** off and if turn overs go our way and we hit a few pass plays we can get into the 4th quarter were we have a shot.

If Auburn wins out till Iron Bowl and looses they are guaranteed a BCS birth.

If Alabama plays SC in SEC CC and wins there in National title game. If they loose its SC and who Auburn or Alabama?

These games will dictate the high end. If we beat the Hogs and the Bears we are going big time bowling. The question is how many Maroon Fans will travel over 500 miles to a bowl. If we go to a big bowl and don't travel well were screwed in the future. If we are at Liberty or Nashville bowl is not as good but we pack the Stadium. We should have allot of fun over the next weeks figuring this out. And last if we win OUT Holy ****.......................................

....The worst we can do is Peach? Dude.. 7-5 teams who've been putting up 50+ points a game with huge offensive plays coming out their asses go to the Peach Bowl. 7-5 teams who've been winning with defense and special teams go to Memphis, Shreveport or at best Nashville.

Take a look at what the rules say about the bowl selection process.. Particularly the part about taking the team with the best record or having the choice of taking the next team down with one less win. I guess it's been so long since we were bowl eligible that some folks don't remember how well that scenario works out for us.

Want to go to Atlanta?... better win a couple more.

College football is over when the final horn of the national title game sounds. By then, anybody who isn't just a diehard fan of the two schools involved is burned out on college football.

Some folks smoking some good stuff!

Right now we are likely Music City outside shot at Liberty. Do not forget the MCB loves Kentucky, so hopefully we took care of that last night. We still need to finish out strong. Finishing the season with 3 losses will not look appealing to any bowl despite our record. The Liberty Bowl loves MSU and would kill for a scenario to get us again. Beat Arkansas and we are looking at the Peach Bowl. Beat Ole Miss and we are probably playing in the Cotton Bowl. Beat Bama and we are playing in the Sugar Bowl assuming Auburn holds on to play for the National Championship.

Outback does not want us. They will work whatever angle they can to get Florida / Georgia / South Carolina if possible. Bama will be the next selection for the Florida based bowls.

The only thing that we are assured of right now is that we will not be playing in Birmingham or Shreveport.

But January 7th is still terrible for the Cotton Bowl.

Next year I think the BCS Championship game will be about two weeks after the Super Bowl.

It IS a rule that a 6-6 team can't jump a 7-5 team, leaving the 7-5 team without a bowl game. But there is NO rule that says a 6-6 team can't jump a 7-5 team in the bowl pecking order.

my guess

bcs championship= auburn
sugar- bama
Citris- LSU
Outback- Florida
Cotton-Ark
Gator- South Carolina
Peach- MSU
Music- Georgia
Liberty- UK
Papa Johns- Ole miss maybe but dont see them winning 6

We just need 2 sec teams to make the bcs games or we will drop one spot. Also the SEC bowls are pretty divided if your west or east. They usually try to keep east teams in the gator, music city. and west teams in the cotton and liberty.
