Obviously now if they are meeting every week they have the time, but of course it would require them to be scrutinized in front of their peers probably. I hate the "It's not my call" excuse.Several years ago, I brought up exactly that giving the officials a copy of the game tape, told them we could get it to them before they left. (old days burned dvds) they were not interested, said they wouldn't have time to watch it as a group. I think it would be great. a lot of their calls, they only see part of the play or have a bad angle. my biggest complaint is they will not discuss the penalty, many times have been told on the sidelines, that's not my call.
with the ECHO System in place, they can see them in an instant! For a very nice fee, you get a link from your laptop to camera, a wireless systems specifically for Echo, so all you need is an iPad or Tablet to view instant replay 15 seconds after the play happens! I heard though that officials are not allowed to view this footage until after the game... The influence (NFL and NCAA) this system brings is debatable, but it's certainly not going away either. One thing I saw that I wanted to state about this article is where the official said something about wanting to see video. When we played Northeastern (NC) by the time we were on the bus ride back we already had a HUDL request wanting a copy of the video from the officials association. Maybe the CR Officials should get a hudl account to review video from select games they choose to review.
No doubt... I can see the flag flying 30 ft. as if the ref was testing his arm strength. No one likes to see that for sure!! Especially when the official was ever so slightly out of position and couldn't keep pace with the play. He couldn't help but see it because he was watching the play!Only calls I have a problem with are holding and block in the back, which are usually called by an Official 20-30 yards from the play. If it has no effect on play, leave flag tucked away.
