I'd love to see him coach a doormat team in this conference. Would be thoroughly entertaining and his defense would be a freaking sieve every week.

Not sure if he'll get a look or not, but it isn't a bad call. He has actually performed well at Youngstown turning them around and he certainly knows the B1G landscape.

I'm not sure if he fits the personality Purdue is looking for, but their last coach seemed to be more of a positive guy and teams usually look for the opposite. However, beyond just personality, I've heard some say that Purdue needs to get an innovative offensive coach and Pelini is definitely not that.

Small fact check. Nebraska did not finish in the top 25 his last 6 years.

Pelini went 67-27 in seven years at the helm for the Huskers, never winning less than nine in a season, and the last six the Huskers finished ranked in the Top 25.

Big Red fact check. NU has 5 MNCs and several Heismans and conference titles. How many of any of those did Pelini get or play for? How many embarrassing one sided losses to ranked teams did he have? Since teams now play 13 games, including a bowl, shouldn't wins be upgraded to 10 per year from the 9 coach Osborne won? NU and her fans deserved much better than Pelini was ever going to give, unless he was gonna luck into something after 15-20 years on the job or a major stoke/heart attack, which ever came first.

Wait......I thought it was really difficult to recruit to Nebraska. How difficult would he think it would be to recruit to Purdue?
I truly believe HCBP didn't think Lincoln had much to offer, and as far as the facilities, sellout, etc. that was nice, but the fans, who he hated came with it. It is possible if he believed Indy is a cool metropolis and the Purdue fans are less demanding, he might be better able to sell what he believes in. I didn't think he was THAT BAD of a recruiter, he just had trouble finding a QB and his roster management sucked.

He won't have to worry about that at Purdue. I don't think anyone there cares.

We could stop paying his *** right?
Also, I wouldn't wish that nut job on any team, but his breakdowns are lunacy case studies.
Tap ol' Bo to get a closer look if you dare!

I'm not aware that Lafayette is considered by anyone to be part of the Indy metro.

It isn't but you can recruit there easily enough. My fiance went to purdue. Honestly lafayette has some kick-*** stuff if you're into it. Some pretty good restaurants too. It is much nicer than a lot of the rest of the area (it makes south bend look like a slum. Oh wait... it is).

The funny part is the iu/purdue rivalry. Those fans can be hilarious given their football history. The basketball rivalry is pretty solid though.

Purdue is two hours from Chicago and like 4 hours to Ohio.

7 wins a year at Purdue makes you a god (or, Joe Tiller Part II)

He would be a terrible hire. Any power 5 program that even gives him a sniff is out of their minds.

The biggest question is will Purdue take on Carl? And if not, will Bo be willing to not take Carl with him?

I laughed through that entire article......"he could not get along with his superiors"....Yikes!!! That was just ONE of his major issues....

But, PLEASE, Purdue...hire him!!!

That might be a good hire. Purdue would still get trucked by every team that had a pulse (just like today) but they would look great against all the other doormats. Plus it would be a whole new fanbase for him to learn to hate.

Unless Bo has an old college buddy who's now an A.D., I would be surprised if any A.D. would want to deal with a head coach who has Bobby Knight like temper but not a Bobby Knight like resume.

I know it seems easy from afar when thinking about hiring head coaches for big programs, but the reality is that there aren't as many candidates as one might think, especially when you're talking about one of the worst in the conference. You can quickly eliminate 95% of all coaches who have or can get better jobs than that one. So you're basically looking at retreads who have been fired elsewhere, a young and unproven guy from a smaller conference (what most people go for), or an assistant from a program ready to take the reigns (also no evidence of his ability to be a head guy.)

Trust me when I say I am no fan of Pelini's, but he did field a competitive team at Nebraska and he is having a pretty successful year at Youngstown so far. Interview his players and they love him to death.

Now granted, we know the other side of Pelini, but trust me, he can be marketed quite well when you show the good side. It's also not as if Purdue has visions of being in the playoffs anytime in the next five years. If he could give them a winning record to build a new foundation, I have seen worse hires (see Charlie Weis, Turner Gill, Charlie Weiss again (lol), John Blake, etc.)

I still question why he would leave YSU anyway. He is home, in a low stress low profile job, still drawing a huge check.

If he has invested wisely he could quit tomorrow and live the rest of his life quote comfortably

If BO returns to HC at a Power 5, I think he should avoid the BiG TeN. His defenses don't match up well with their power run games.

Which is weird, since he is a BiG TeN guy after all.
