I haven't heard of any covid later. It's slowing down just like last year.

"Pender HS advanced to the second round of the Class 1A Football Playoffs after Lejeune HS was forced to withdraw due to COVID-19 issues. The Pender Patriots will host the winner of the West Columbus/Bertie first round game. The second round will be played Nov 12, time TBA."

Lejune was 0-10 heading into the game. I am sure that had nothing to do with it.

Maybe so, I know schools used to get fined when they chose to forfeit. We played north Moore a few years ago, they were 0-10 and I heard they wanted to forfeit but the NCHSAA were going to fine them if they did not show up. State does not like to lose that gate money.

In their rules under the new realignment I assume because they went from 32 team split to one 64 bracket schools were given the opportunity before the bracket was finalized Saturday to opt out with no penalty. 5 in the east and 1 in the west opted out.
