Nagao definitely AA potential, his style is so different from what We Are used to. Lots of crazy scrambles incoming
Potential, but quite uncertain. His decision to allow wrestlers to his legs in neutral is tough to see. When it’s against a wrestler you might not see again this year, it’s scary. The top in this class will finish those.

You can get a concussion with any blow to the head, not just on the top or side of the head. You can certainly get a concussion from a blow to the chin. You can even get a concussion without a direct blow at all, the only thing that has to happen is a sudden start or stop of the head motion. The brain will still bounce off the inside of the skull, which is what causes the concussion. That's why you can get a concussion from a whiplash type injury where the head motion is limited by the neck reaching its limit.

For that matter you can get a concussion falling on your *** and the shock going up your spine.

You’d think some coaches would say “wow, this might be less embarrassing with our full lineup” I guess it’s a nice built in excuse
Not full lineup is an understatement. Oklahoma left 6 starters on the bench. While it might not have changed the outcome, it certainly made this match non-competitive. I guess they needed to be ready for Bucknell.

Feel like Ryan should be on X right now: Oklahoma is not growing the sport trotting out that lineup.

I swear Rocco moves and wrestles ALOT like Carter. If you ignore skin tone, he looks like his twin as he stalks his opponent and cuts off the opponent’s escape routes. Maybe not surprising as I’m sure they work out a lot together

Ok, I’ll ask. What’s with Cael and Marcus? First he made the PC comment about best ever, then in post match PC was saying he couldn’t believe he was sitting with Marcus Blaze. Was tonight’s comment an attempt to loosen him up? Is Blaze known not to laugh, average, or total opposite?

Rocco actually was the closest to beating Carter a few years ago. That match could have gone 19 minutes and would still be 2-0

Marcus is a really serious kid from what I’ve seen. Cael’s probably trying to make him laugh. I think having him and Ono rooming together is a master stroke. Ono’s good nature could make anyone lighten up.

141: #11 Aaron Nagao vs. Alex Braun
Was
Period 1:
Of all weights this year 141 may have the most uncertainty. Nagao didn't compete last year & moved up from 133, so we'll see what we get. Here we go! Circling & tying up. Braun drives forward with an underhook. He gets to Nagao's legs. Nagao counters & gets the TD, 3-0. Nagao has Braun stretched out with double boots in. Stalemate & restart. Braun is still down. Nagao gets a boot in & then the other. He's got Braun bellied out on the mat. Nagao with lots of forward pressure & looking for a wrist. Braun passes a leg & is trying to square up. Nagao hangs on a leg & gets a warning. Braun gets to his feet, but Nagao takes him out. Riding time stopped when Nagao got the warning for offensive stalling. Braun grabs an ankle. Nagao pressures from top & gets a crab ride. Nagao is looking for points, but Braun adjusts & gets a reversal, 3-2. Nagao keeps working & gets his own reversal, 5-2. Nagao gets a boot in & tries to roll Braun back. Time expires.

Period 2:
Someone took neutral. I'm gonna guess it was Braun. Circling, hand fighting & tying up. Nagao reaches for a leg, but can't get there. Braun reaches, but no luck. Nagao shoots. Braun counters & comes behind for the TD, 5-5. Nagao counters & gets a reversal, 7-5. Out of bounds & restart. Braun is still down. Nagao gets both boots in & has Braun bellied out again. Nagao goes over 3-min of riding time & the period expires shortly after that. 7-5 Nagao +3:09 RT

Period 3:
Nagao takes takes down & Braun gives up the escape, 8-5. Circling & some head tapping, then tying up, 1-min left. Nagao drags & tries to come behind. Braun grabs a leg & is trying to fight it off. Stalemate & restart, or potentially dangerous. Back to neutral. Braun shoots. Nagao locks through the crotch. Stalemate & restart. Braun shoots at the end, but can't finish the TD.

Aaron Nagao DEC Alex Braun 8-5

Team Score:

PSU: 19-0
OU: 0
Already scored 4x Bartlett

When Levi went down I nearly shat myself. I was watching on my phone and missed the chin contact and at first thought it was a leg. I was really worried.

Once he went into concussion protocol, was it wrong to start thinking, oh well there goes the Hodge? A medical forfeit would knock him out of consideration, or might it not if he ended the season with the highest bonus? Thoughts?

Levi vs Mitch will provide their own entertaining battle all year on this front, but it pretty friggin impossible to keep up with Mitch. I loved the fact that it seems back points are on MM's A list. My money is on Levi in terms of total pins though. I'll take the over if the number is 10.

I had the exact same experience. I looked away and missed it and immediately thought non contact knee injury. Very thankful it wasn't anything substantial

It might also be Cael's way of encouraging Marcus after his DNP at U23. In the team photo Marcus' disappointment was evident.

Unfortunately for Oklahoma, Dr. Howie Bluestein just retired. An authority tornadoes and convective storms, his TOTO device was part of the inspiration for the movie Twister. It's too bad he wont be there to rate the coming storm. We know it'll be bad, but whether it's a high end EF4 or the second EF5 of the year will probably require an expert evaluator. The rest of us will just have to settle for being mesmerized and impressed by the damage.
That was very insightful. Thanks

PSU has nobody to blame but themselves. Want your guys to hit quality opponents, then schedule a meaningful tournament. Pretty simple. Two whole months of pointless wrestling. Incredible.
Your post is rather pointless.

PSU wrestlers get the highest level of competition in their wrestling room. The goal is to win national championships. Until such point that Cael fails to win a NC, you can STFU.

PSU wrestlers hit higher quality opponents everyday at practice compared to any dual meet or tournament they enter. Cael and company got this and know exactly the formula for March. It’s still amazing that Cael has more NCAA team championships than BIg10 team championships. Trust the process
LOL. I made my post before seeing yours.

Blaze is toying with this guy now. What a tactician on the mat.
Agreed. He looks stronger/tougher too after watching a lot of his high school videos; which were less than a year ago.

Of course, he is going to galvanize his skill set and get stronger in the PSU room, but I just didn't think he would jump this high so early.

Do you think Ono and Blaze have fun at practice? :devilish:

Tom- Do the PSU wrestlers get a national championship ring for a team championship?

Also, do individual PSU wrestlers that win a national championship get a ring?

Lastly, are the silver and gold medals the wrestlers in at NCAA;s made out of solid gold and silver?

If anyone else knows, feel free to chime in. Thanks.
