Just read he might be coming our way. Beamer is swinging for the fences instead of playing small ball. Isn’t this what we wanted him to do?.
Donati is driving this transformation.
Question is: how?Donati is driving this transformation.

What's his selling point?
I mean his selling point to candidates. My way or the highway

None of these hires are guys who had no other options. Any one of them could have gone somewhere with a more stable situation.
Generous pay, multi-year contracts, and in one case - a possibility - although that last one might be implicit.Question is: how?
What's his selling point?
Yeah, their fans all over X saying we're getting a dud b/c he did too many slants on 3rd down or something. All I know is he has consistently produced offenses that score around 30 ppg, which would make him legendary here.If you read some internet rumors (fwiw), Briles was told to find another job, as he wasn't coming back to TCU.
I'm concerned what his style of offense will do to our defense, We have had pathetic offenses here under Beamer, due to his poor hiring. Yes, we need to do a lot better scoring points on offense. But if Briles offense ends up disadvantaging our defense, that's not good. TCU's defense is ranked 70th. As you know, 18, defense is what wins championships. 6 of the playoff teams have Top 10 defenses. Only 3 have Top 10 offenses.Yeah, their fans all over X saying we're getting a dud b/c he did too many slants on 3rd down or something. It's a good question. When he was at Arkansas, they were top 10 nationally his last 2 seasons in rushing attempts/game (and 40th his first year). Conversely, there were 92nd, 115th and 109th in pass attempts per game. At TCU that's basically been reversed. They've been 4th, 14th and 22nd in passing attempts/game and 90th, 114th and 79th in rushing attempts per game.I'm concerned what his style of offense will do to our defense, We have had pathetic offenses here under Beamer, due to his poor hiring. If you can't run the ball and control time of possession, you can't win. Tempo is great between the 20s but when you get in the red zone, you have to be able to run the ball to score tds. At some point in a game, usually later in the game, a team needs to be able to sustain a drive and eat clock if they want to win. That is a long standing debate about the tempo offense.
Feast or famine. When its working, you wear out the other team. Struggle and you wear out your own defense.
And often times you'll see a good portion of both throughout a season.

Is that really a concern for us? Our O has been wearing out our defense for yearsThat is a long standing debate about the tempo offense.

That’s a 100% valid concern. My thinking is, could his offense be any more dis-advantageous toward our defense than the offense was this year?I'm concerned what his style of offense will do to our defense, We have had pathetic offenses here under Beamer, due to his poor hiring. I'm going to posit that an improved offense of ANY kind would help a defense.I'm concerned what his style of offense will do to our defense, We have had pathetic offenses here under Beamer, due to his poor hiring. We finished 52nd in Total Defense and 45th in Scoring Defense out of 134 FBS teams. That's good. I hope we can keep that up and improve on it. I hope we don't lose Clayton White. That’s a 100% valid concern. My thinking is, could his offense be any more dis-advantageous toward our defense than the offense was this year?I mean, it’s *gotta* be better, right?
Yes. While it would be awesome to see Briles come up and launch a high-powered and potent offense, scoring 40 ppg, we don't need that. We just need an offense to complement our defense. We finished 52nd in Total Defense and 45th in Scoring Defense out of 134 FBS teams. That's good. I hope we can keep that up and improve on it. I don't think we have had a competent offense in any of the past 10 seasons. 2024 was the Sellers athleticism show. It was not our offense producing. It was Sellers individual performances. Illinois figured him out during several weeks of bowl preparation. Our 2025 opponents took notice. And the rest is history.Yes. If we had a competent offense this year, we'd have had 8 wins.

If a slant is what I think it is, and I’ve only seen other teams use it, then I’m excited

I'm not discounting Illinois, but I think we cut the legs out from under him ourselves in that game.I don't think we have had a competent offense in any of the past 10 seasons. 2024 was the Sellers athleticism show. Seller's least proficient element of his passing game. What’s a slant?
I don't want to lose him either... He's been fairly consistent.... In a good way imoWe finished 52nd in Total Defense and 45th in Scoring Defense out of 134 FBS teams. That's good. I hope we can keep that up and improve on it. I hope we don't lose Clayton White.
That was frankly more A&M just playing to their ability.I don't want to lose him either... He's been fairly consistent.... In a good way imo
After the 2nd half aTm fiasco, I think his stock dropped some, honestly. How can you let that happen?
Either their OC or the qb noticed about mid way thru the second quarter that our safeties would abandon the middle with nothing but a glance, and they popped us at will. That was frankly more A&M just playing to their ability.
They had plenty of missed opportunities in the first half. Unforced mistakes. QB was making terrible plays. Reliable receivers were dropping easy catches. They had a number of dropped passes, one would have been an easy TD.
They cleaned it up at halftime.
We could have ran prevent defense the entire second half and still won with that lead .... No excuses imoEither their OC or the qb noticed about mid way thru the second quarter that our safeties would abandon the middle with nothing but a glance, and they popped us at will.
Illinois would have been boat-raced if we had our entire team on the field. Fact.I don't think we have had a competent offense in any of the past 10 seasons. 2024 was the Sellers athleticism show. I like to think so. Same as I like to think we would have beaten ND the previous year.Illinois would have been boat-raced if we had our entire team on the field. Fact.
And if Nick plays the second half.We absolutely win if Kennard and Sanders play.
