We still desperately need some frontcourt help though. Would be great if we could get a commitment from Ware out of Starkville HS.

I know we got Roquez, but Montgomery is big time Alabama territory in basketball. This is a great pickup.

The guy can recruit and George Brooks did a heck of a job too. Of course, nobody on this staff gets much credit on here but we are putting together a lot of talent for the next two or three years. Coaches now are after a big man to fill that void and I have no doubt they'll find one. The good thing about Roquez and Craig is both of them can play defense as well as score.

Monta Ellis, Travis Outlaw, Jonathan Bender, Jemario Moon. All 4 guys he signed that never made it to campus. Had these guys made it to campus who knows where we would be right now. Also Jamont, Charles Rhodes, Romero Osby, Shaun Smith, Rodney Hood, Deville Smith were all national recruits.

looks like Rick and his staff took about a four year recruiting vacation until someone put a fire under his *** last year.

He's also done well on transfers, with Shane Powers and Lawrence Roberts and now the guy from UTEP. I think he basically had Mr. Basketball in Mississippi on lock down for a while, although what that gets you is somewhat hit or miss. It's also how rarely he misses on somebody he should get. Outside of this last year's class, you had Mo Williams and a handful of others, but for the most part he's kept whatever MS talent there is in MS.

Although neither stayed around or amounted to much. However, Goodridge is doing ok in the D-League last I saw.

Stans just landed his 4th four star recruit or better out of the last five guys he has gone after.

I heard that Bama wanted this kid bad, but the fact that we got Roquez Johnson sewed up us getting Sword. I like his potential. Now we need to land Gavin Ware from Starkville and Devonta Pollard from Kemper Co.

So we didn't go after O'Bryant and Adams? Or were they #6 and #7?

While Stansbury's classes haven't always been extremely highly rated, he has historically been able to put together some pretty nice, well rounded recruiting classes. I looks at 2006 as an example where he brought in Turner, Stewart, Hansbrough, and Varnado. Varnado was the only real prized recruit and even he took some time to gain interest, but the class was full of solid contributors. In 2008, he did a nice job of landing Bost and Osby, but the trend goes downhill quickly from there.

The 2009 class was "saved" by Sidney, and last year's class was underwhelming to say the least. I don't think that the staff quit recruiting, but I think we went after a lot of guys with no back up plan when they didn't sign. When we lost guys like Hopson to UT and Gallon to Oklahoma, we were screwed.

I don't know what happened, but I agree that someone lit a fire under his *** and so far, things seem to be getting back on track at least as far as recruiting goes. We'll see what happens when these guys hit the court.

Only in your deranged mind. You have no more "stroke" or "inside" with the powers that be than anybody else. You just like to act like you do. I remember when I was a young man and "involved" during the Tyler years. But, you know, I liked to think I had more info than most, but I really didn't.Now...be a good inpatient at the mental institution and maybe they will let you have visitors.

(all said in good fun...because that is what a message board should be).

good job Pops...I knew you could do it

I think we see who posts about whom. All I ever do is usually post to clear up all your misinformation and BS you spout. Hell of a start to the 2012 classand even a fool like you ought to give credit where credit is due. I'm like Dawgstudent, I think you would rather MSU lose than succeed so you go on a tirade. Sad indeed.
