While Stansbury's classes haven't always been extremely highly rated, he has historically been able to put together some pretty nice, well rounded recruiting classes. I looks at 2006 as an example where he brought in Turner, Stewart, Hansbrough, and Varnado. Varnado was the only real prized recruit and even he took some time to gain interest, but the class was full of solid contributors. In 2008, he did a nice job of landing Bost and Osby, but the trend goes downhill quickly from there.
The 2009 class was "saved" by Sidney, and last year's class was underwhelming to say the least. I don't think that the staff quit recruiting, but I think we went after a lot of guys with no back up plan when they didn't sign. When we lost guys like Hopson to UT and Gallon to Oklahoma, we were screwed.
I don't know what happened, but I agree that someone lit a fire under his *** and so far, things seem to be getting back on track at least as far as recruiting goes. We'll see what happens when these guys hit the court.
