Looks like a lot of "We Believe, 8-0" signs going up around town. Vernada, sports and rec,......pretty awesome.

When we went 8-0 last time, the CL had a truck parked outside the stadium. They had already printed a special edition 8-0 newspaper w/ a special 8-0 insert. I have several of those put away. I will try to post a photo later.

No offense, but I really don't like the "I want to believe" picture and I've seen several people use it. What does it mean? You wish to believe, but can't because you think we're going to lose? For example, what would one infer if I said this: "I want to believe my wife was a virgin before she met me."

If it is your intent to make a tongue-in-cheek joke, then I get it.

I want to believe is generally used in reference to UFOs. Pictures with UFOs flying and the slogan "I Want To Believe" under it. It is just a take on that, you are thinking way too much into it. It is We Believe for geeks

We believe in our team, coaches, and fans to be ready.
We believe 8-0 is a legitimately possible outcome.
We believe the team benefits from a pumped-up fan base who expresses support and encouragement in whatever ways they have available.
We believe it's both fun and effective to give the fanbase an easy way to participate in spirit activities no matter where they are in the world.
"We believe you can do it" is a great message to share with team about to face the biggest challenge a team can face in a regular season: taking their shot at number one, on the road.

I just don't see the problem. I guess it depends on what you choose to read into it and why.

Not an X Files fan?

Reply fail from my phone, first of all - it was supposed to be in reference to the earlier comment that this "believe" thing means you expect to lose. If I misinterpreted that, my bad.

When I saw #webelieve I never once connected it with the X-Files or the "i want to believe" UFO thing. Never crossed my mind - I interpreted it directly as support for the team without a lick of "gosh, it must mean we're gonna lose." I certainly never went there at all with the meaning.

The poster that was complaining was objecting to the use of "I want to believe."

I'm pretty sure the #WeBelieve movement has gotten unanimous approval among our fan base, and everyone interprets it the way you do.

Oh, ive been following the movement.

/its been awesome to see

No question.

Actually, it's not the first time I've seen "We Believe" used in reference to Mississippi State football.

I was in the band in the fall of 1988. Tech and ten, it was awful and I was there for every game.

November 26, it was miserably cold, raining, and we were sitting on the northeast side of the stadium. The scoreboard was down and to our left. Also to our left was a sign I will never forget. The guy was holding it up before the game even started. It said "1-10 - We Believe."

It's amazing to see our fan base grab onto positive expectations, even when facing #1 at their house with all the chatter that we have zero chance and a line of +24.

This beats the hell out of the other version.
