Well I've been complaining about ESPN calling the shots in the SEC but I don't think they were in on this .

So our rotating opponents will be:

Texas, Texas A&M, Oklahoma, Missouri, Arkansas, LSU, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Tennessee, South Carolina, Auburn

My guess is we will get next year:

Texas A&M at home
Oklahoma on the road
Arkansas at home
LSU on the road
South Carolina at home
Auburn on the road

Reverse in 2027

Then:
Texas on the road
Missouri at home
Florida at home
Georgia on the road
Kentucky at home
Tennessee on the road

Reverse in 2029.
If there's 12 teams rotating through six spots, they should do it something like this:

Year One:
Teams 1-3 at home
Teams 4-6 on road

Year Two:
Teams 4-6 at home
Teams 7-9 on road

Year Three:
Teams 7-9 at home
Teams 10-12 on road

Year Four:
Teams 10-12 at home
Teams 1-3 on road

Think you'd have to do a 4-2-4-2 rotation instead of 3-3-3-3 to keep home and road equal. But yeah, rotating 6 teams every year is a lot.

If Kiffen goes to UF he's an idiot. His record at Ole Miss would've gotten him fired at UF. That program and its fans are toxic as Hell.
Kiffen could win a national championship or two at Florida. He can't at Mississippi. I don't think he'll leave for anything short of an elite job. But Florida is still an elite job. If they make a good hire, they could be right back to winning national titles in no time.

A few thoughts:
1. Obvious they just completely threw the one they had worked up 2 years ago away and started from scratch.
2. We did OK. Vandy is looking improved but maybe Pavia won't get that 7th, 8th, 9th and 10th year of eligibility and they'll go back to being Vandy. Bama is probably a lot better than getting a Georgia, Texas or Tennessee. This is not Nick Saban's or Bear Bryant's Alabama.
3. Tennessee is the big winner here.
4. Mississippi not happy, but really Oklahoma is probably a mid-level team in the SEC.
5. None of this probably matters as much as we think it does. It's really only 4 games in 4 years that change. We were always going to play Mississippi 4 times and Vandy & Bama twice. Now we just get Vandy & Bama 2 more times each.

Where's the guy who said bama was getting auburn, UT and lsu and anyone who thought otherwise was an idiot.
Which guy? There were a lot of folks with that opinion (not necessarily the “anyone thinking otherwise is an idiot) part, myself included.

Bama not getting LSU as a permanent is easily the most shocking revelation from the leak. Nothing else announced is THAT surprising, given that the decision to give MSU to Bama instead of LSU created a league wide domino effect.

Wow! We get the team we’ve played least of any over the years every year. Just as they get good.
I'm a little worried that Vandy may start spending money on football. Hopefully they fall back to reality next year.

From ESPN:

The schedules are going to be built with a clean slate for the next four years, which means there could be hiccups, such as repeat games from the prior season. Some matchups could also be attributed to the unbalanced schedule -- five home and four road games or vice versa. A priority for balance was given to teams for 2026 as they'd be more likely to get five home games if they had a power conference game on the road.

Based on this, we'll have 5 road conference games next year.

This is actually pretty balanced

Big takeaways for me - No Georgia/Tennessee, Tennessee/Florida, or Bama/LSU. How does Tennessee get Kentucky instead of Florida or Georgia?
Tennessee played the long game and it finally paid off. Their primary traditional rivals are Vanderbilt and Kentucky. Vandy for the in state rivalry, of course, and UK for the Battle of the Barrel (ret.), the third most played rivalry in the SEC.

Since all three schools were in the same division, no one had to ask UT who its biggest rivals were. Now its time for the payoff.

Bama clung to Vandy as one of its main rivals for quite a while, but that matchup already fell victim to conference expansion.

I think we're at Minnesota next year, so probably 5 home SEC games. Will be interesting to see if we buy our road games at Troy (2027), Memphis (2028), Southern Miss (2030) and Tulane (2032). Gonna be a lot of 6-game home schedules if we don't.

What if the SEC gets pissed about the leak and changes things up before tomorrow's official announcement?

Boy, was I wrong about State-Bama. ESPN has got to be disappointed the annual LSU-Bama game is now twice/4 years.

What if there were 10 different versions created and distributed individually and confidentially, and Sankey was only doing it to smoke out a rat from the office?

But that’s more then made up for by them getting to show State-Vandy 4 times in next 4 years. You know they’re thrilled about that.

So you're telling me there is a chance we could have UK & Vandy on the schedule, and both those games be on the road, with 7 other SEC games? That would be the ideal time to be on the upswing as a program.

I’m claiming this as a winner for me. I said that we’d get OM, Bama and some random team to make the schedule work out. Don’t get more random in the SEC than Vandy.

This really isn't that bad and I would rather have vandy each year than Kentucky. Seems like the based a lot on rivalries and general geography too. Like our permanent is decently close not like Mizzou or something.

Check the tapes, i called Bama from the beginning.

Didn’t the 3rd, figured it to be Ark, UK or TAMU, i’m happy with Vandy though.
I predicted Ole Miss, Bama and UK. I don't know why anybody thought aTm was in the conversation. If not UK, I would have predicted UPIG. Never would have guessed Vandy.

Because 2 years ago Jimbo Fisher explicitly said "Our three permanent opponents are going to be Texas, LSU, and Mississippi State."

Who is Kentucky's #1 SEC Rival? Tennessee.

Who is South Carolina's #1 Rival? Georgia.

Who is Vanderbilt's #1 SEC Rival? Tennessee.

Who is Georgia's #1 Rival? Florida.

So now you've got two Georgia slots filled and two Florida slots filled. What games you cutting:
Auburn - Georgia
Tennessee - Bama
Tennessee - Georgia
Tennessee - Florida

Bama - LSU not playing is the only shocking game left off. The other were just simple math and not as important.

We'll probably get mostly teams that we didn't play in 2024/25, such as LSU, Auburn, South Carolina, Oklahoma, or Kentucky.

Or maybe we won't because who really knows at this point.

So you’re saying we played Alabama every single year for 115 years straight except the past two years when they sucked and even vandy could beat them. And then we pick back up the game

Exactly. For the most part our rotating opponents should be ones we don’t play in 24-25. But one complicating factor will be who has a road P4 game scheduled next year. Which brings up a point. If SEC is going to rotate 6 opponents every year it’s just not going to work if the P4 games are home & home in consecutive years like ours are.

Ole Miss then two of Arky, KY and Vandy should be the only temporarily permanent choices. Show some sympathy for our fans.
