Might actively pull against him if he goes to a rival, but I'd never boo him
I don’t think he does but if he did it would certainly send a portion over the ledge for sure.No reason Calipari would want him unless he thinks it would get under Kentucky's skin.
“Received interest” does not mean “offers.”A lot of good offers for a guy that averaged 2 ppg.
Yea, don't get along cause he didn't recruit him. DumbOr….
He wants to play and just not ride the bench and collect a check.
List for me the 30 players from Kentucky just since the 90s that have been criticized as much or more than Perry.I used to like your posts, but lately you’ve become something of a caricature. What the hell kind of UK fan actively wishes for an opposing player to light up the Cats? And your comment about Perry being the most criticized player since 1962 is just absurd. I can think of about 30 players just since the 90’s that caught more flack than Perry, and that was before social media existed. Get off his nuts. He’s an elite shooter, a good ball handler, and a fundamentally sound hustle player that will grab a big board or get a big steal when you don’t expect it. His defense against anyone with a pulse is absolutely atrocious. It is what it is. You want to hate on this fanbase? All most of us wanted was for the kid to stay and commit to getting better defensively. Instead, he’s choosing to move to a less talented roster somewhere that needs his scoring punch so bad that they are willing to turn a blind eye to his ****** defense. That’s fine… his choice. I hope our guards make him look like he’s standing in cement… because I’m a Kentucky Wildcat fan, not a “great white hope from Kentucky” fan. And this is coming from a guy who grew up watching the unforgettables, Travis Ford, etc.
I do not concur with the guard comparison. He's going to play less if he goes to UL because they have better guards. You didn't read the other guy's post you originally pooh-poohed and it led to you saying all kinds of irrelevant things trying to maintain your position. Peace.
Lyon Co. has mountains now?Beard and Ole Miss were in on him first. They recruited him harder than any other school. He was and is still wanted there. Eddyville is closer or as close to Oxford as it is to Lexington so it is near home. He let his heart take over despite knowing that he was not wanted by the previous coaching staff at UK. He let his heart overrule the people that truly wanted him. I have been following UK basketball since 1962. I am 71 years old. I have never seen a kid be so criticized, and I would be willing to be bet that 95% of all the criticism is coming on this blog site is coming from "UK fans" that have been fans only during the previous coaches tenure. I can never remember under any of the previous coaches that there was such disdain for Kentucky high school players as the previous staff had for them. There have been All American and other great Kentuckians that played for UK. There have been even more that were solid contributors to those that played very little and never do I remember fans attacking the later group of players. These are probably the same experts/know it alls that said Travis needed to go to Mountains of Lyon County. I hope he goes to Oxford and absolutely torches UK.
$300,000 buys a nice Lyon Co. house maybe. Some said he would have gotten around $200,000 next year at UK.
I doubt he gets much more anywhere else. The smart choice would have been to redshirt, collect the money again, and then come back.
By his senior year at UK, he's probably a rotation player and is making $400,000 at that point.
Year one: $150,000
Year two (redshirt): $200,000
Year three: $250,000
Year four: $300,000
Year five: $400,000
That's a pretty conservative estimate.
That's at least $1.3 million before taxes. He's paying $52,000 in state income tax and another $480,000 in federal income tax.
He could have walked out of UK as a 23 year-old with around $770,000 in post-tax cash.
Buy a nice house @$300,000
Buy a decent car @60,000
Give some to family and God @80,000
Then take the last $330,000 and invest that money while he goes off a plays in a multi-year foreign career.
He won't even make that kind of money playing overseas.
I'll start;List for me the 30 players from Kentucky just since the 90s that have been criticized as much or more than Perry.
Carrier, Stockton and probably even the Harrison twins.I'll start;
Brandon Garrison
This is a ridiculous statement. Not even remotely close to true. Hell, if anything, he was treated with kid gloves compared to the criticism heaped on some other recent players (see Wheeler, Brooks, Askew, Boston, Whitney, Livingston, etc.).I have never seen a kid be so criticized, and I would be willing to be bet that 95% of all the criticism is coming on this blog site is coming from "UK fans" that have been fans only during the previous coaches tenure.
BTW, this is quite the mathmatical question. Name me two presidents that have been criticized the most in the last 8 years.List for me the 30 players from Kentucky just since the 90s that have been criticized as much or more than Perry.
Dontaie Allen says hello.Amari Williams
Justin Edwards
Sahvir Wheeler
Keion Brooks
B J Boston
Ryan Harrow
Saul Smith
Isiah Bristow
Devin Askew
Skal LaBissierre
Khalil Whitney
Shaedon Sharpe
... quickly come to mind as being subjected to quite a bit of criticism, but there are others.

Not one you listed was from Kentucky. Don’t say Saul Smith. He graduated from Clarke Central HS in Athens, GAAmari Williams

Perry was not mistreated by the fan base. Everybody I know dearly wanted him succeed here. You’re WAY off base trying to spin that angle.
Brandon Garrison is not fro KentuckyI'll start;
Brandon Garrison
Never has but, there were so called fans that said he needed to go back to the mountains of Lyon County.Lyon Co. has mountains now?
Weird
Brandon Garrison is not fro Kentucky
Correct- some of the comments on here were brutal regarding Garrison.I'll start;
Brandon Garrison
No one on his list but Dontaie Allen was. Comments on him were brutal in his time at UK.Not one you listed was from Kentucky. Don’t say Saul Smith. He graduated from Clarke Central HS in Athens, GA
From the AR insiders they have not contacted him and don't plan to.No reason Calipari would want him unless he thinks it would get under Kentucky's skin.
The dumb ones.Never has but, there were so called fans that said he needed to go back to the mountains of Lyon County.
I missed the ky part. Not one you listed was from Kentucky
Your prior statement didn’t specify the criteria as only players from Kentucky..Not one you listed was from Kentucky
You didn’t miss it. It wasn’t in his claim.I missed the ky part.
Doubtful we have had 30 from ky in that time frame.
Pretty easy parameters for the win.
You'd have to name em all.
Brandon Stockton outplayed Rondo in practice.Your prior statement didn’t specify the criteria as only players from Kentucky..
But, even if so, you’re still wrong. Jon Hood, Dontaie Allen and Josh Carrier being just a few examples that immediately spring to mind of Ky kids who took just as much or more heat from fans.
How many players "since the 90's" FROM Kentucky have even suited up? Has there been 30?
That whole take is just silly and a emotional rant. Pretty much everyone wanted Perry to succeed and stay. No doubt he was thrown into the fire unexpectedly and was not playing his natural position so not surprising he struggled. You didn’t miss it. It wasn’t in his claim.
And NIL has justified it now.As far as criticism he got it no worst than a littany of other former players. If your going to be in the spotlight you need to have thick skin.
Agreed, once you start getting paid at these levels your basically like any other professional player and expectations to perform are magnified. BTW love the username. Maybe the best Seinfeld episode ever lolAnd NIL has justified it now.
Agree. Also less than 1 rebound and 1 assist per game, and had a negative assist to turnover ratio, .06 assist per game, .07 turnovers per game. Slow, can't play defense, doesn't rebound or create for others. Not to mention he gets absolutely cooked on defense and can't create his own shot. In any kind of top conference, the athletes he will be going against will be a hard task to overcome. Love the kid, and he can stroke it, but not exactly a PG/2G that will put fear in opponents. Hopefully he works on his game, goes somewhere where he will not be exposed as much, but even somewhere like CUSA, with the speed and athleticism he will face, it will be a tough task. He would be best suited for a lower mid-major like a Highpoint if he wants quick, positive results. Not knocking Travis Perry, just stating the truth. Sometimes the truth hurts, and I think he knows that, which is why he is leaving.A lot of good offers for a guy that averaged 2 ppg.
