Bama buddy of mine said it is all over their boards that Thamel has info that will dismember Auburn and "MSU might have some problems too" said that Thamel called MSU for comment today.

If they see him as a booster I could see how they would think that we have a problem but everyone already knows about Rogers. I was thinking that Rogers son went to Texas Tech but I cannot find it now. I think he ended up there after transferring fromNebraska.

About the only thing I think that could get MSU is not reporting the Cecil conversation in a timely manner.

I don't know the timeline, but that's about the only thing I could see that could hurt you...unless there is some proof that you made some offer or paid some money but had the low bid, which I doubt happened considering you did come out and actually report the incident later.

1. a total and complete naive idiot; or
2. a liar.

I still say we are not going to get stumpwhooped like another certain mule train.

Bell and Bond both could be real problems.

And spare me details of what you think you know. Nobody but Bell and Bond and a few tight insiders know exactly what went down with the mule and the pimp before the heat got too damn hot. Don't assume that what "reportedly" happened is all there is to it. I wonder how many discussions with the pimp went down over the amount and the method of payment before somebody shut it down. The NCAA will slap you for even thinking about it.

We could have paid and probably not got caught. We could have had the best season in MSU football history and could have played tOSU in New Orleans. But we didn't pay... reported... and played in the gator while AU went to the BCS champ game. <div>
</div><div>Anything other than just a hard scolding for MSU would draw some media ire if AU skates on the same or just a bit more. Hell we did the right thing even if Slive sat on the report for a while while the season played out.</div>

UT's low bid for Albert Means didnt cost them anything when Bama got busted. Either way, it doesn't matter because State didn't play ball when Cecil stuck out the collection plate.

Last week message board land reported that we got an NOA, which was BS.

of course it's all speculation.

My guess is Cam wanted to go to MSU. This is pretty much a fact. Cecil said, "if you want my son at MSU, you will have to pay me 180K". This is pretty much afact. We (whoever "we" is) entertained the idea. We probably continued to recruit Cam after this request was made by Cecil. Ultimately, Mullen or someone higher up the food chain got word and we told Cecil no. Cecil informed our staff and Cam that Cam would be attending AU. Whether AU alums paid Cecil or not, my guess would be that they did, but they wouldn't necessarily have to pay Cecil to get Cam's signature at that point.

This right here is what has been bugging me. I find it hard to believe there was one conversation, a "no thanks" and that was the end of it. You know there had to be some back and forth before the plug got pulled.

I'm concerned that "whoever we is" went a little beyond considering the idea and made a good faith contribution to the pimphouse (via charitable back channels). And when it became painfully obvious that "we" were getting outbid after "we" thought "we" had a deal, it got ugly. And "we" decided "we" weren't going to take that ****.

...had we gotten outbid or even made a payment, we'd have swallowed our pride and not made the fuss that was made. But it is naive to think that we didn't entertain it, that conversations weren't had at some point.

The thing that has bothered me about this from the get go is that Cecil has nothing to lose. Absolutely nothing. He can stick it to us all he wants to, truthful or not.

Cecil would sell a story if he needed the money. Don't think that he would not make up stuff about us.

isn't that the kicker? how would talk(assuming "we" bartered and there is evidence of that) result in sanctions? as long as he didn't receive any sort of benefits from us, how could we ever get hurt by this?</p>

Kentucky paid something like $6,000 just to have Means take an official visit to Lexington. They got a one year bowl ban.

We continued to recruit Cam and ignored his dad hoping it would work out. We didn't rat on them until they signed with Auburn. Stricklin said that when you deal with pigs you get dirty. I think we could get some dingage, but it won't be too bad.

When he gave his first interview about this he said he wanted to get our side of the story out because otherwise it could get ugly for State. When he went on the radio here in Atlanta with Buck Belue he said this was going to be messy and he wanted folks to know we did the right thing. I've always assumed that Cecil/Bell were conducting an auction For Cam by trying to play up how much the 'other' school was willing to pay. That would explain the 200k for the other schools but 180k for you since Cam like's Dan angle. Typical hustle. Unfortunately we're involved whether we like it or not. Our compliance dept turning this info in to the SEC in January has to count for something. It shows we were in control of the situation from an institutional standpoint even if a booster may have gotten a little over zealous.
