The 6-foot-5, 297-pound Baldwin, who was widely considered the top junior-college offensive lineman in the 2016 class, spent only about four months at Alabama. He transferred from ASA College in New York in January and went through spring practice with the Crimson Tide, but he was dismissed from the program on May 12 for a violation of team rules.

And I'm supposed to be surprised and shocked, how?

So when would he be eligible to play for them?

Article says not this season but next. Think he signed with Bama out of JUCO, so he has to wait a year, even though he didn't last there.

I don't have a problem with taking a look at some players like this (Marcellus Jones Etc), but it is comical that they WANT and LOVE players like this...every single player like this.

They own us. They are all about winning and bowling every season; meanwhile we sit home with our squeaky clean team. We are all about winning "the right way", we would never dream of having a player who was even accused of wrong doing - innocent or not. We are the microwave fans hoping for the best from Barney's program. The talent is improving, there is hope.

It is only a matter of time before one of these players does something really bad at UL. You take enough of these players of questionable character, they start to hang out together and the next thing you know you have a UT type program. They may beat us 10 years in a row but if it means we have one less rape or domestic violence case on our campus I will accept the latter.

You mean something like have a cheerleader overdose and die in a players apartment from drugs he provided? Or have a player rob a store with an Uzi? I can bring up plenty more incidents that prove practically anything goes at that place as long as you win. They'll continue to recruit any scumbag out there if it helps them win and the media won't say a damn thing about it because Jurich controls all the media in town.

A lot of truth in your post, and I don't like some of the ridiculous things our program has done to remain "squeaky clean". The whole administration has been paranoid since the NCAA has torn down both of our major programs, not noticing that the NCAA is a joke------and Transfer U is a major example of that, ie hurtt and about another dozen things.

And truthfully I would rather lose some than win like they are doing, and you never know when another Minardi Hall or PED will explode on the scene, they are living on the edge with a lot of these third and fourth chances. Which includes their coaches.

AND I do think we are on the verge of winning the right way, all we ever really needed was to quit being just a basketball school. It took mitch a long time to acknowledge what the "money cow" was and to start supporting it with more than the bare minimum-------which cost us millions.

LOL I see steelers is trolling around.

What a little *****, he bans people over there then comes here to read up.

Wonder how he likes the Minardi Hall "incident", I haven't heard much about it lately. Weird how people seem to just forget things like hurtt and that, (and the eight thugs attempted murder at TU, which should come up again in the lawsuit) although I did come across an article where they self imposed more basketball restrictions, dropped another scholarship and more recruiting restrictions, looks like they don't think they are as innocent as they profess. If everything about hurtt came to light it could really get interesting------alas, the NCAA is in charge.

I will sign off and wait for his "like".

I'm not really sure why you wouldn't bring someone like this in for a visit and learn first hand why he was dismissed from Alabama. You hear his version of it, then talk to the coaches at Alabama to learn their version. You learn something about his character in that process. Then once you know all of the facts, you decide whether he's worth offering a scholarship to....

Or have 2 teammates beat the crap out of a player, the player suffers career ending injuries, the head coach demands the incident is not reported to the police, the injured kid has to turn to the courts & a lawsuit as a result of his poor treatment?
Or sign a notorious troublemaker known for his love of lobster & steak dinners on visits & he gets arrested for eating a pound of weed right after being pulled over?
Or have a cornerback get popped for not one but 2 DUI's in less than 6 months & remain on the team?
Or a defensive line coach involved in rampant cheating that is deemed to have lied to NCAA investigators, slapped with a show-cause order, and the program embraces him even tighter than ever?

yeah, they have a dozen stories for the type of recruit profile they seek out.

***** Easy on the language. ;-) *****

I agree that is what should be done but don't you think it's concerning that you have to do this with a lot of players?

This is why UL is superior to us in football. It is not an even playing field. They recruit similar classes to ours but usually add several high profile transfers every year that were booted from an SEC power.

Desperation is never an admirable quality. Like the girl that tries way too hard to look good and just ends up looking sort of pitiful and pathetic. That's the image UL has given off in recent years. They've had success with it but nobody really takes them serious as they know how they've done it.

To get dismissed from Bama you can bet it was something pretty serious, they are hoping to hang on the an OT who was caught with pot and a stolen gun hidden under the seat.

But this is why Louisville's recruiting rankings mean very little. When they bring in 2-4 starters every year that aren't a part of their signing class any year it comes up to 8-16 starters over 4 years. Its like getting an extra signing class over that time because that's usually how it works out. But everyone needs a 5th chance right?

Concerning? Certainly. We are taking a chance. As someone else mentioned, taking the kid from FT Highlands who washed out of Auburn turned out bad, as did taking Rod Council (of Uzi fame) about a decade earlier. Willie Williams (the Miami transfer, not the JC transfer) turned out to be a bad choice, as well. I was never a Michael Dyer fan, either, though we never heard anything bad about him until he skipped out on school after his final game in 2014.

However, Robert Clark and Gerald Christian (transfers from Florida) turned out to be good pickups. In Christian's case, we not only got him, but by taking him we also got his brother Geron Christian, who will be starting at left tackle for us this year. James Sample, the player who was kicked out of Washington, also was a positive - he's now playing for the Jacksonville Jaguars. So far, Devonte Fields, Josh Harvey-Clemons, Jaquay Savage, and Shaq Wiggins have also worked out well.

Until we are re-stocking each year with 4 and 5 star players, improving the roster in this way is what it is going to take to have a chance to beat FSU and Clemson. It's one of the reasons why I have been pretty vocal on the Collision Course board about the mediocre rankings of our recruiting classes under Petrino the past two years.

Taking Devonte Fields will never be a success. The dude punched his g/f and likely threatened to kill her. Don't think giving guys like that another chance is a success.

The other guys seem to have minor discipline problems at other schools, and I don't see a huge problem with most of them. The high number would be a concern as well though

Do you mean like jurich did with Willie?

Who is paying for his lifetime in prison, is that a state or a federal thing? We know who is going to end up paying for his basketball arena.

UL has an AD that always wants to win. Our AD is on a mission trip.

They have an AD that is pure scum. And he is training his son to take over for him so they will be able to continue to control the local media when he is ready to spend his millions in retirement.....

So, what you are saying is that you are going to continue to do this forever------or until hurtt's ban ends?

And you and most win at all costs Transfer U fans are perfectly fine with it.

Yes, Jurich's son is the Assistant AD primarily in charge of fundraising. Has been on the payroll for several years. Don't think UL has nepotism rules but even if they did....rules don't apply to Little Brothel.....they do what they want without fear of reprisal......until this year with the harlots in Minardi Hall.....

Hurtt's ban has ended (last October). And if we don't ever recruit 4 and 5 star talent, then yes, we will continue to do this forever or until you become UofL's head football coach or athletic director.

Yeah, and I guess the State University in Arkansas is Arkansas State.
