Dustin Johnson really having a big tournament
Honestly, does he even practice any more?
It's not surprising. Dude has always been lazy and for a brief period of time got motivated and brought his full talent to the course. Is over 40, rich, and does not give an ish anymore. Makes no sense to me why someone of his caliber would embarrass himself and shoot the scores he does now simply because he does not want to put the work into it but that is just me.Dustin Johnson really having a big tournament

Golfs #1,2,3 ranked players playing in the same group. All 3 doubled #16. Scheffler was dead center of the fairway after a 322 yard drive. Xander was right beside him after a 323 yard drive. Both hit in the water because mud was on the ball. DEAD CENTER OF THE FAIRWAY. Should not happen, maybe they should have aimed at the rough. Rory, did NOT land in the fairway.
I do not like the relief when a guy is in the rough behind a TV tower or grandstands, and some how gets relief and is out of the rough, or betters his shot greatly, but I do feel they should be able to lift, clean, and then put the ball back exactly where it was if in the fairway. JMO, I understand "play it as it lies", but cleaning a muddy ball in the fairway and putting it back in the same spot is not asking too much.
My opinion, say a player is in thick rough but is by a sprinkler head, he should not get more than a foot relief and the ball SHOULD be placed back down in the rough away from the sprinkler head. To me, that is a lot more of an advantage than simply cleaning mud off a ball in the fairway as mud should not be in the fairway.
Sort of patting myself on the back but lots of golf to be played....PGA Championship has a way of having lesser known players contend
No it doesn't say a fairway should have perfect lies. You are for once right. BUT, a PGA major championship course fairway should not penalize a player for a perfect drive. The whole ideal is to drive the ball in the fairway. When you accomplish that, you shouldn't have to worry about a cake of mud on your ball. There were more than likely other players who played "mud balls", not just those w/ bad results. Unless the conditions are generally poor, you aren't going to see lift/clean/place in any event, nor should you. Nowhere does it say the fairway should have "perfect" lies.
You see more breaks (good or bad) when the weather is iffy at tournaments and players draw the wrong end of the Thur/Fri starting times, but that is accepted as luck of the draw (unless you are Sergio)
Scottie needs to quit whining on this one.
Is it just me, or are they playing extra loud bird sounds for the telecast?
Maybe the big guns will show up for the weekend. The OWGR (Official World Golf Rankings) for those currently in contention (-4 or better). Nobody in the top 50.What a leaderboard!!!! Great effing major!
Good for those guys, pretty much journeymen. Saw several play at Barbasol/ ISCOMaybe the big guns will show up for the weekend. The OWGR (Official World Golf Rankings) for those currently in contention (-4 or better). Nobody in the top 50.

Good call on Fitzpatrick. Great putting on those tricky greens.Several bigger names are still in it and can make a move. The one to watch IMO is Matt Fitzpatrick, major winner, solid game. He is -4 thru 8 holes. He can move up into the top 2. I fully expect him to be at least 6/7 under after today.
It’s early. Give it awhile. What can we complain about today, fellas?
11 of the last 13 PGA winners have been creamy (Jimmy Walker and Dufner being the exceptions)
What a leaderboard!!!! Great effing major!
I found it funny to watch all his bravado after taking the lead followed immediately by his collapse.Still a few journeymen in the fold but it does look like Scottie’s to lose. As good of a player as Bryson is the short stretch collapses have to be a concern for him.
Those tough closing holes will be worth watching. The 4 shot swing yesterday in a matter of minutes was shocking: DeChambeau (double bogie) and Scheffler (eagle).Still a few journeymen in the fold but it does look like Scottie’s to lose. As good of a player as Bryson is the short stretch collapses have to be a concern for him.
As is too often the case, I am often a good knowledgeable sports fan, but not a particularly good gambler, naturally failed to take my own advice^
I could almost see taking Rory/Scheffler against the field, when they get it rolling, those guys are on another level. And Rory has owned Quail Hollow.
