They've killed hundreds of people. If it's a situation where you would risk shooting someone with a gun in the leg or shoulder etc (risk to bystanders, officers, etc.)., then a taser is justified, if not, it's often an unnecessary risk. in other words, it's often used for the convienience of the officer, not for his safety, because it's mistakenly seen as a completely safe weapon.

somedrunk fan running on the field is not worth risking his life. the criminal consequences are already enough of a deterrent.

You say tasers aren't completely safe? Well neither are fans entering the field of play. Ever heard of Monica Seles?

This could all be avoided if the fan would stay in the stands. I say taser his ***.</p>

.......who does something stupid just once in his life, gets tasered for it, and dies on the spot. apparantly that would be the only way for you to figure it out.

why not just have snipers on duty? go for the leg shot, oops, head shot, well, he shouldn't have run on the field.......dubmass.

taser = bad. especially when it's 7 philly security guys and a cop vs 1 teenager. unacceptable. the kid had no weapon and wasn't being aggressive in any way. tasers are for lazy cops. there should be a bumblebee rule where you get to use your taser once and then never again, especially if it's not warranted like the situation at the ballpark.

I'm all ears on how you intend to catch someone who's running around and very good at avoiding you. Just chase after them until they wear out?

What about rubber bullets? They aren't "completely safe" either. You think riot police should just take molotov cocktails and rocks to the face?

and the security guard did not zap him, we'd all be up in arms demanding to know why he wasn't zapped.

If you decide to be a dumbass and run on the field then you deserve what you get. Considering the recent terror plot in NY, he better be glad all he got was the tazzer.

and got tasered, they'd definitely be up in arms... and legs... and feet... and some other indistinguishable body parts.

if you ask a completely different question off tangent in a thread you're correlating two things? I was simply asking him another question for his opinion on a somewhat related topic. "moron"

tasers are for lazy cops.

and yeah i know that sounds like "you aren't a coach so you don't know". i don't give a crap. every time we have a cop that gets injured/killed or a citizen injured/killed people love to jump up and down and say the cops didn't do enough. but when they do enough and after the fact it is recognized that the real person in the wrong didn't have a weapon, some of the same people jump up and down because of police brutality and now apparently they are "lazy". amazingly dumb.
