Caleb played ELITE defense on him in the 2nd half, but it was also really good team defense, with Cam switching, and Cliff hedging hard.

Really? Caleb even with a bad back. He’s our mvp. He also played with him in high school so knows his tendencies.

I understand that. But Pickett was averaging 32 ppg in the last 3, got off to a great start, and didn’t get a single shot off in the second half when his team couldn’t score down the stretch. It’s shocking, is all. Great guards take contested shots against great defense all the time when their team needs them to score
He stopped trying to shoot. He started to drive to kick as opposed to drive to shoot. If that makes sense.

as bad as caleb was in the first part of the first half he was the opposite from that point forward. lock down d and made some huge shots and didn’t turn it over. playing on guts
We held them to 14 points over the last 15 minutes and maybe only 2 or 3 field goals over that time
We needed him to guard Douglass from UM. Douglass went right at Cam every time Cam was guarding him. That was the game with UM.
Brilliant 2nd half after he had a rough first half for sure. I think he dug down and told himself, 2.5 halves left in my senior year and the bid is in jeopardy, how do I want this to play out? He showed up BIG TIME (the missed FT being the lone exception).

Caleb’s second half defense was beyond elite. Truly amazing. As for Picket, as I posted elsewhere he is a great offensive player, but he gets away with clearing out defenders by lowering his shoulder and charging, but almost never gets called for it. It is infuriating to watch.
