Pirtle is the best 2B at MSU I can remember..

Dude has been incredible at MSU. Both the glove and the bat. Some guys probably have better numbers because of the bat, but he's hit 3rd or 4th probably 75% of his games at MSU.

I do remember Brandon Turner crushing the ball in 07. He flirted with .400 most of the year.

Wes Rea's little brother was a decent hitter too. Didn't he play 2B until his senior year?

somebody may have to look it up but it seems like I remember Matthew Maniscalco putting up some gaudy numbers. He runs a select program in Alabama now that produces all kinds of college talent if I'm not mistaken.

Manny was a SS

Defensively, I don't think it's any question that Pirtle is the best ever at 2B.

Jeffrey Rea was awesome. Brandon Turner was great until hammy issues drastically shortened his career. But Pirtle is really good.

I don't remember Rea and Turner making plays in the field anything like Pirtle. Plus, if he has the old bats, he's probably hitting .375+ with a couple bombs.

You have a short memory

I remember Lotterhaus making some spectacular plays. Wasn't he a transfer from UM?

Pirtle is right up there. I'll remember him as much for essentially carrying the team this season while the rest of the veterans struggled. Those two plays at Virginia were as good as you will see.

I remember hearing about Lottie showing up to his first practice will an Ole Miss shirt, and Polk telling him "we need to get you new gear son."

Seems like I remember him as a 2B. But in that case, I would probably agree. He's been as good as we've had in my lifetime.

Also I'll go with Masters just for some good mojo from the man upstairs.

Defensively, yes you may be rite.

Offensively...Jeffrey rea is the all time MSU hits leader, so there's that.

I recall Pete White and Gator Theisen being pretty good from many years ago.

Pirtlle had a hell of an inning last night (?). Was in on all 3 outs including a diving catch. Good job.

Yeah. Lotterhaus's dad was president of UM's alumni association. Their baseball coach platooned his son, who hit about .200, with Lotterhaus and after a couple of years of that, Lotterhaus had enough and transferred to MSU. UM fired their baseball coach a year later.

He's the best that comes to mind for me at MSU, but not the best I've ever seen in college baseball (I assume you are talking about college baseball and not the majors). Adam Everett at USC and David Eckstein at Florida were both probably better defensively than Maniscalco, but there wasn't much difference.
