Next weeks game of the week imoErwin lost to West Henderson but will be a different test than Pisgah. Lots of speed but not as physical. Should be a great game.
We always have some really good games with heritage. I'm just glad it's at home so they can't grow the grass 2 feet tall. LolYes, Erwin has a tough non-conference schedule for sure.
I think both MH and Erwin offenses are going to put up 30+ pts on each other. MH left quite a bit of cushion on our pass routes we just didn’t catch the ball and execute on several. Erwin will. Meanwhile, we had good success just mashing the ball against Erwin. MH is every bit as physical as us but more explosive. Should be a fun game for the fans I just don’t think the D-coordinators are going to enjoy it.![]()
By the time you get to Enka and North Buncombe they will feel like a light scrimmageYay now we get to play Heritage after playing a very good West Henderson team. I guess I can at least look at the bright side, we get Brevard after that.![]()
Haha true. I also failed to mention that they have to play hendersonville, Watauga, Reynolds, and Asheville after that. I think our coach was drunk when he made that schedule.By the time you get to Enka and North Buncombe they will feel like a light scrimmage
Y'all will be ready come playoff time. Hendersonville has an explosive offense but I wonder if their defense is any good. Watauga never misses a beat. They graduate great players and just reload. Their coach is legit plus that area is a good one now for football talent and culture. Back when I was in school, Watauga was one of the few teams we could beat.Haha true. Honestly with our schedule I just hope we make the playoffs. I really don't know what the criteria is to get in this year. I think I read somewhere that it's not being a conference champion that decides who gets in.Y'all will be ready come playoff time. Kyle, how did your McDowell team look like last night? That's one of the schools that I never understand why they are not so much better than they are. They have so much talent in that Community to pull from but it's probably because a lot of them don't play football
I wouldn't say they have a hotbed but with App State growing and Boone growing they have a pretty good setup being the only high school in the county. Lots of people moving to that area as well.Honestly with our schedule I just hope we make the playoffs. I really don't know what the criteria is to get in this year. It's funny because Watauga is the only team that I would consider from wnc that I have never seen play before. I've been all over the state for the last 25 years watching High School football but I've never seen them. That area doesn't seem like it would be a football hotbed demographically but they seem to have a good thing going
A six win season would be a good thing to build on for a new coach. If he can get the kids in the stands interested it will pay off.Considering it was coach Clark's first game as a varsity coach, I think they showed a lot of fight.
We have more athletes than usual, quite a few new kids are playing or playing more with the new staff. We can actually throw the ball well this year, our QB is only 5'7 but can really sling it and tough as nails. Have a little trouble with running the ball consistently and stopping the QB run last night.
I was pleasantly surprised with special teams (decent punts and made a field goal) and we didn't allow a lot of long plays due to lack of speed).
I expect a 5-6 win season if all goes well. We have an easy schedule.
That is true. I've always liked that area up there.I wouldn't say they have a hotbed but with App State growing and Boone growing they have a pretty good setup being the only high school in the county. Lots of people moving to that area as well.
