I agree with the poster that says Pope will never platoon.

Nothing to back that up other than opinion.

This team doesn’t have that kind of talent anyway.
I never said he will. I just asked why anyone is certain he won’t. None of us know one way or the other. However, he has done line changes multiple times. That means it isn’t completely outside the realm of possibility.

I don’t think it’s very likely to be clear, which is why each of my roster projections have minutes assigned specifically to every player.

Aberdeen is coming in to push lowe at the pg spot. And no the platoon was a cal thing he can keep that with him at Arkansas or wherever he goes. If pope coaches this team like his 96 team was coached there may be big subs but he’s not going to subscribe to any specific combo of players other than those that night in that game. The platoon is the laziest way to deal with talented depth. It was a patented jvc move” how to lazy your way to success”
Platoon is not a Cal thing.

Pope isn't going to platoon 5 in and out. We also aren't going to see much pressing or trapping. He usually brings 3-4 off of the bench at the 5 minute mark in each half. After that, he'll do another sub or two at the under 8 mark. Depending on fouls and matchups he'll go different directions with the lineup combinations for the final segments.

Having extra fouls, extra defenders, and fresh legs will be a luxury if everyone stays healthy. Players tend to shoot a bit better with fresh legs, and it also puts pressure on the opponent to sub early to keep pace. We'll also be able to ease JQ back into the rotation when he is ready.

This got my interest and seemed relevant to how we’d sub.

Great depth for sure. Love to see the flexibility they show Chandler having 1-3, Williams 2-4. All but two players can play multiple spots on this graphic. Different options for lineups, and the rotations to sub in for the starters.
