That's where I'm different I guess, ****** is ******. If you miss the tournament it doesn't matter to me if it's by a game or 10 games, as long as we're talking about one season.

I'm not saying that Juwan isn't a good coach, but Michigan was in the Sweet 16 the year before he got there. He didn't exactly have to rebuild/build a program (i.e. Houston, St. John's, FIU).

Sidenote: I didn't read the article. I just saw the heading.

The post explains what it has to do with “anything”. People have come out of the woodwork this year saying Cals approach no longer works yet here is another coach that has success with the same approach. Stupid post.

How long has Howard been at Michigan? What's the breakdown on the roster? How many OAD types and how many transfers? How many veteran playera?

LMAO, 20-10 is not historically a bad season at UK. Your disdain for Cal is obviously about more than basketball, since he's proven his ability at 3 different schools over multiple decades.

Objectively, not because of any racial issues, show me who has been better than Cal since he came to UK. I consider objectivity to mean it is based on wins and losses, F4s, national and conference titles.

Well he has by far the most expected one and done players going in next year and he's a 1 seed that may win it this year, in his 2nd season. Like someone else mentioned though, he did inherit a good situation.

Why do you always want to include Cal’s WHOLE tenure here?
Success is often about how things are TRENDING.

Again I’ll say this...
If N Saban in the next 6 years goes .500 against top25 teams, most of his seasons end going to minor bowls, and occasionally he misses bowls completely, stubbornly sticks to what’s always worked for him in the past, and lectures his fans about how he knows so much more than them Bama fans would—justifiably—be critical DESPITE how well he did his first 10 years there.

UK bball should be analogous to Bama football—a “bad season” there isn’t just not winning the NC.

That was a throwaway line made by Martelli. It’s not even Howard’s quote. And the article makes no mention of getting players to the NBA as fast as possible, or having a team full of players declare for the draft to gauge their prospects. To try to tie that in to Calipari is really quite a stretch.

I count 9 seniors…… .9. When is the last time Cal had even half of that? Add in the 2 juniors and 2 sophomores and that tells me Michigan is nothing like any team Cal has ever had at UK.

5 of their top 7 scorers are seniors.
Livers, Brooks and Smith combine for 10.2 assists per game, all seniors.

The only thing similar is Hunter Dickinson. He is a freshman.

Tell me again how Michigan is anything close to UK under Cal. I'm dying to read your comparisons.

Also, this is some weird arguement, has anyone on this board actually compared Howard to Cal? If so, I haven't seen it.

You both look like fools right now, but honestly, you did before your posts in this thread anyway.

YOu mean in all of college basketball? What racial issues?

I think Cal's 1st 6 years were as good as Pitino's last 6 and almost Rupp-like. I am not one that thinks Cal can't coach or thinks he should be fired. I just want him to leave. I am not saying Cal's overrall body of work at UK is bad. Overrall it's really good. The last 6 years, it's not imo.

I believe KU and Gonzaga have won more games. No titles for either team. I know Gonzaga went to the FF in '17. Not sure about KU's last FF.

Conference titles. I'd say both have as many or more than UK during that time frame. Do not know without looking it up.

I will tell Cal, if he likes his job he had better get his *** off the sofa and get to work....9-16 won't work here...anything 10 L's or more next year and he's toast.. ..with that said I think he puts together a top 5 team..the transfer market is going to be crazy and Kentucky will have plenty to pick from..after the NCAAT it will be crazy

1. I would never want Howard at UK. Guy is a loose cannon.
2. He would never come here in first place not going to leave Michigan.
3. I could care less how he runs his program. I just hope he beats the Suckeyes as I loathe that program.

You obviously don't know UK history if you don't think a 20-10 year is a bad year. Tubby's last 2 years were similar to that and people were calling for him to be gone. Same with Hall. Only Pitino was still dominating when he left.

So, he is expecting to have one and done players next year, but we're somehow comparing his 21/22 team to Calipari and acting like Howard's one and done system is a success???

He's coaching someone elses left over team right now.

I know their numbers as a team, I don't know the roster so I can't speak on it. I just know they are pretty good this year and have a monster class coming in. I cant speak on any information I don't possess

They were saying the player's first approach works, as in recruiting, not necessarily one and done. Next year we'll see how good Howard is and if Cal can adapt and keep the fire he first came here with

Juwan Howard is who I think Kentucky should look at next. Or at least keep an eye on. He's young. He's a solid coach. He knows the game all the way up to the professional level. Players seem to love him..
