Protestant Christian Independent here. First question I like to ask radical progressives......."Do you believe God created the earth and everything in it?"......most cannot even reply and are totally dumbfounded. Ok, now we can lock this thread.

All religions are basically the same when you break them down to their basics. There are some distinct variations but most religions start from the same basic core concepts. People get so defensive about their religion but how you became a _________ probably depends more on geographic location than it does on an ideals. I’m a Methodist because the Methodist church was the church within walking distance for my grandparents. The Presbyterian church would have required hitching the wagon and the Baptist church would have required leaving home before dawn.

Very true. Where you're born on this planet pretty much determines what religion you're likely to be.

Need Rastafarian, Vodou, Confuscianism and Druidism options too. I went to a Buddhist funeral once. It thought it was pretty interesting. When they get to chanting their prayers it’s pretty trippy. There was an underlying hum to it once they got going.

I attend one of those new style non denominational churches that is located in an old furniture store, in a questionable part of town. The pastor just barely turned forty and 75% of the congregation is younger than that. It's still weird to me, but it's where he wants me to be for whatever reason.

I attend a Baptist church but I am non-denominational. Funny story, our Sunday School teacher was talking about drinking (big no no for Baptists). I asked him to show me where in the Bible it said no drinking. He said he would research and get back with me. Even Jesus said they called him a wine bibber while John the Baptist who never had alcohol touched his lips. 2 weeks later he started class by holding up his Bible and saying I have searched everywhere and nowhere does it say you can't drink. It says not to be drunk but nowhere does it say you can't have a drink.

Jesus's first personal miracle as a grownup was turning the water to wine at a wedding party at the request of his mom. The hosts ran out of wine and were very embarrassed to their guests. Jesus's mom practically had to beg him to do it. He initially didn't want to, but gave in. He called his mom...."woman" and said "why do you involve me with this?" ......of course, the first miracle involving him was the virgin birth.

One fact that many religions cannot get past is......"The ONLY way to get to heaven is through Jesus". There is no other path.

It’s pretty dumb to argue about stupid legalistic shlt like drinking. It’s not hard to discern what adds to a virtuous life and what doesn’t. Bad behavior and habits are obvious.

Catholicism would probably be much bigger if priests could be married. As an outsider, that aspect has always bothered me. Peter was married. According to Catholics I know he’s the first pope, right?. If he can be married, why not priests?

Am I allowed to answer?
Absolutely, God did originally create you as the greatest Archangel in Heaven. Too bad you screwed up and got kicked out. But go ahead and answer. You and your Demons have been very busy since then and have done a bang-up job here on earth. Enjoy it til the very end. Then, you and your team will crash hard and burn spectacularly........forever.
