You want stadium expansion? Play USM the years that Bama, LSU, and OM do not come to Starkville.

It's easy to see that we'll come closer to selling out the odd years because of the attractive home schedule that those three foes bring. The even years bring Auburn, Arkansas and two east teams that typically do not travel as well as the above fan bases.

Although I'm not excited about playing USM for the simple reason that they seem to take it more seriously than our teams do, the fact that they would finish selling out the stadium for us may be what's behind this.

I guarantee Byrne is looking at the big picture and that may be a reason we are looking at USM. I would take a series with them in a heartbeat if it means we horseshoe the endzone.

is to get us out of the feast or famine schedule where we get our 3 biggest games either all at home or all on the road.

it should be in the contract that if they don't sell out their entire allotment for the first game in Starkville, they forfeit their home game the next year and it is moved to Starkville. If they want to play, play hardball with them.

we had two road games at bama in a row, which set up the schedule as it is currently. we either finish with two road games or two home games every year. why did the SEC do that? did anyone else have to do that? i just don't remember.

as opposed to 2. They had to do it so all of the rotations would properly work and teams would have 4 home and 4 away each year.

....and it's what 8dog said, we went from two permanent other division opponents in 2001 to one permanent in 2002, and if I recall, about half the teams in the SEC had to do some type of double-up like that to make the schedules even out going forward.
