Playing zone out of TOs

Lesser concern, I guess, to the offensive woes, FT shooting, and turnovers…but

Why does Pike run zone on the first defensive possession out of a TO? Nearly every time.

The teams best (only?) asset is their defense and the zone serves up an open look for the opponent more often than not.

We’ve been running zone more and more and I think it’s because of them being tired with the lack of depth. No coincidence we’re giving up like 10 open threes a game for the last 5 or 6 games

Pike clearly must think they’re tired since he empties the beach so early

It’s true every 2-3 zone on D ends up in a wide-open 3 and we’re basically at the mercy of the other team hitting them or not
