First of all let's not blame the current offensive coordinator. This is the same offense we have run since Dan got here. It is Dan's offense.

The Tyler Russell experiment should be stopped. I thought he was the best QB, but not in this type of offense. He shouldn't run the read option because he does not ever keep it. Why waste the second or so of that read when he is always going to give it to the back. He kept it a two times that I saw, one for a good gain. If you use him it should be a straight passing offense no read option. And after the head shot today, he definitely won't be running it again.

With that said, today was a step backwards for him. He threw behind receivers at some crucial times, once for a TD and the other for a first down. The first INT he had the deep out wide open and mis-read the dump to the back. (Still not sure how they didn't reverse the INT. It was clear as day that the ball was still moving in his hands after he stepped on the line). He was doing much better last year and you would think he would have improved.

I understand Dan feel's we need to shorten the game as much as possible, but we move tooooo SLooooowwwwww. We had momentum and let the opponent regroup just because we don't attack them when we were going good. Also when we need to catch-up, we can't speed up.

They should have won this game going away today. They just have such a limited offense that they have showed everything they have by half time. There is no real misdirection since they always take the same options in their plays. They get in their own way. To run the same plays over and over again you need to have superior players. We do not so we need to have multiple wrinkles in all our plays.

Bruce, that's pretty much been the same question every thread has asked for the last eight hours. No one has an answer. Doubt you are going to get anything different.

We went play action on 4th & 15 today right before half. Pretty sure the LBs aren't biting on that ****, Dan.

Please explain why we go for it on 4th and long with 40 seconds to go before half at the 50 yd. line, giving OSU a chance for an easy 3. That was all on the coaches.

My magic 8 ball is the most qualified person I know to answer questions about our offense.

I feel like we don't try to stretch the defense in any shape form or fashion. Ole Miss and Auburn stretch teams sideline to sideline. Other teams stretch the defense vertically. Good teams stretch the D both ways. We do neither. We ram ourselves right into the middle of the defense and throw less than 10 yard routes over and over and over and expect things to get better. How many times did we take a shot on one on one coverage deep? I can think of one, and it was in the 4th quarter with Prescott in.

The dye was cast when you have an I formation quarterback and you can't adjust your offense to his skills.

Two things. One, you don't have the O line to run it(which is why Hevesy needs to be **** canned because of his talent evaluation)

Two, you're too stupid or hard headed to adjust.
The I formation offense is easy to teach. It requires less of everyone. Beat your man. Well, if you can't beat your man......why are you playing an I formation QB?

This is on Mullen and Hevesy.

This is the motherf***ing sec. The lines of scrimmage come first. And their recruitment and talent evaluation of those positions has been woefully lacking.

Simple game made more complex by Yankee bastards with big egos. F em

The first point is exactly what has happened. They just don't know how to run it. The second point is right - they are not good run blockers. We've built our offense to be pass first. But this isn't on talent evaluation. Hevesy has actually taken nobodys and done well. It's recruiting high-end talent and keeping people in the program.

We agree to disagree on that one josey. You can teach anyone to pass block, as long as they can move their feet. Run blocking requires talent and a nasty attitude.

I.e. basketball on grass.... Osu. You're not asking em to hold four second blocks. Talent equalizer. You can't whip em in the trenches, you know it, don't be nick saban.

Run blocking is becoming a lost art.

I'll never forget when I was a kid in the mid 70s, my father told me they ruined the game when they start letting OL use their hands.

He was right.

Two good runs by Tyler

TR made two good runs, simply because the defense didn't respect his ability to run. Fair enough.
They didn't have to commit a player to stop a mobile QB. It left them with the ability to keep another player in the box to stop our run, or to apply pass pressure.
The biggest positive I saw came in the 4thQ with Dak at the helm. The added dimension of mobility allowed the offense to move the ball.

Prescott should get additional reps this week, and give Tyler a chance to recover from getting his bell rung. It might be just the spark the offensive unit needs, plus, it might just light a fire under Tyler's *** to step up and become the Senior QB that we all have hoped and expected him to be by now.

My jaw dropped when that happened. I think that was the moment I officially gave up on this offense for 2013.

Tyler's pocket presence is poor too. He stepped into a sack with a three man rush when all he had to do was step outside where there was plenty of room to roam and look for a receiver.
i think that's more instinct than coaching. This offense can't go without a mobile qb it's just too easy to defend when the qb is not a threat to run at all.

I personally think we should be running Tyler more. He's shown half an ability to do that before. He's not THAT slow, and truth be known, we just need to have the THREAT of him running. Scratch the I-formation ****, just run him in the true Mullen offense.
