Please (mathematically) explain how we can still miss the SECT

I've heard said if there is a 5 way tie for first (impossible, right?) we're out. And then I read from a few beat writers that if there's a three way tie for 8th between us, Ark, and UM we're out. But I can't make it work in the tie breaker rules.<div>

which means AU wins tommorrow and Om wins 1 and we lose....then we are out.

That 3 way tie would go to "best record against top seed assuming common opponents" b/c we'd each be 3-3 against each other. The top seed assuming common opponent is SC because FL and Vandy are not commoe opponents for all 3. OM wins b/c it went 2-1 against SC while us and Ark went 1-2. that means its us an ARk head to head. They win.

What Bama does is now irrelevant b/c if they win under the above scenario, they are not in a tie. If they lose and create a 4 way tie, they win the first tie break b/c they won 2 of 3 against us, Om, and Ark. So it goes to the tie break I broke down above.

then three other things have to happen (a loss by the Tide, then a loss by Arkansas, then a loss by Ole Miss). So maybe our chances are better than I thought. <div>
</div><div>Or what are the tie break scenarios for the SEC East? Could USC not be #1 seed even if they win tomorrow?</div>
