I'm ecstatic that we have 2+ kids on the roster capable of playing QB. Hopefully we now have round peg in round hole and they will get the coaching they need.

My hope is that they will continue to progress as quarterbacks. The last 2 starters I believe gave it their all but you had to look pretty hard to notice any difference in their progression at the end of year 4 vs. the beginning of year 1.

That can't happen with the next one.

Love me some round peg in a round hole. Sorry, forgot this wasn't the yoga thread.

I think what is important here is that we are going to have a stable full of very good QBs. Taking nothing away from Tommy and Ryker but it showed the drop off we had last year and I really do not think we are in that same position. Lee, POB, Gebbia and a Darlington kicker. Like the direction of this staff. Keep the big run threat we and we are golden.

Channel 1234 on Cox had Tulane games on often (CBS?) and streaming them online, you can watch any game at any time. I bet CFB so that's why I watched random Tulane games. The first time I saw Lee I was impressed. He has everything we're looking for in a qb; I haven't been this exciting for an upcoming Nebraska season since 2009.
I'm almost ashamed to admit it, but this is true. Tulane was on a lot a couple years ago. Seems like less this year.

You talking about Keller? He started for ASU, didn't he? I remember he nearly beat USC with his arm, and had good stats his junior year. I'll admit I was stoked when he was coming... did not think he was gonna be as bad as he was for us.
He was the starter, then got beat out and would have been the backup. My point is, this is nebraska. We should never be excited to get leftovers from arizona state. Now we have a savior from tulane!?!? How much furthwr can the bar be lowered? Ill root for him if hes the starter because hes N, but, really guys? If he was that great, why didnt any other school try to nab him up?

Understood that Lee left because Tulane was changing offensive systems. From Yahoo: He decided to leave Tulane after the school hired Willie Fritz as head coach. Fritz, formerly of Georgia Southern, runs an option offense that does not fill the skillset of the 6-foot-4, 220-pound Lee, who is more suited for a pro-style system. Lee was able to successfully appeal for a 6th year of eligibility based on this.
Lee is a better pro-style QB than his replacement is an option-based QB.

You know no other schools were interested in Lee? Or is that speculation because he ended up at Nebraska? Keith Williams coming from Tulane probably had some insight. But the recruitment of transfers isn't quite as public as the recruitment of JUCO or HS players. Most of the talk is done by intermediaries and completed before any announcement is made.

But if you have some sort of personal knowledge of the lack of contact between Lee and other schools, then I will stand corrected, but my guess is you don't.

I hope to heck Lee is the real deal because it is my understanding that POB needs to make a huge leap this offseason to even be in the same zip code as other division 1 QBs

Nobody wanted Carson Wentz either.

He didn't get beat out, he left when the new staff came and LSU was also after him, not just us.

If Zac Taylor had transferred from Wake Forest to Nebraska rather than a stop at JUCO would he be viewed as a loser and a leftover from Wake?

As far as "If he was that great, why didnt any other school try to nab him up?" You are implying that if they are any good they shouldn't want to come to NU. Well, Keller came because of Callahan. Now, Lee is coming because of Riley. Why? Because we run a pro style offense.

Well, that's a little more assuring. Also, him leaving because if offensive philosophy rather than him getting beat out is even a bigger deal. I will shut my mouth now til i see the results on the field.

Maybe you all are correct but I really, really am glad to have them both. Let the best man win, besides we need more than one QB.

Absolutely. The best thing we can possibly do to ensure future success is stockpile good, talented QB's.

I agree. I don't think POB makes it other than a backup. I think the hype took over like you see with so many 4*s QB. Hope Lee is the guy while Gab packs on the lbs.

And hope he's close to the hype. He'll never meet this boards standards but if he's even close compared to our other future 4* QB stars!! We know how those all ended.

Assuming you mean crouch? When TMart was at Nebraska we were nowhere close to a NC.

Had he not been injured, he had a good enough D behind him to get pretty damn close to that game. The first half of that Missouri game was showing a rather salty team.

What powerhouse football program did Russell Wilson transfer from?

Seriousely? Youre comparing him to russel wilson? Get a clue......
You know you totally missed his point ? In any case, negative comments based on guesses is a way to paint anyone? POB has quite a resume that he worked very hard to attain - and we really went after this Elite 11 qb. And he is still growing as a player. ,,, The other has some amazing talent; some like to throw stats where his team was overmatched to degrade him. To even get an offer from a top school; you have to be a cut above 99 of 100 males in football ability. Which gains you scrutiny on the net and some free shots.
